Overview:
The Electrical Testing Engineer is responsible for planning and executing electrical, performance, reliability and safety testing of lithium-ion battery cells, and for analyzing test data to identify and resolve cell-level performance issues.
This role reports to the Lead - Cell Testing and coordinates closely with R&D, Quality and Engineering teams to identify and resolve cell-level performance issues. The role requires working in a 3-shift rotational schedule to support continuous cell testing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Test Planning & Execution
- Test Planning: Plan and conduct electrical, performance, reliability, and safety testing of lithium-ion battery cells as per approved test protocols.
- Test Conditions: Define test conditions, cycling profiles, and acceptance criteria in line with product and validation requirements.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and manage battery cyclers and cell testing equipment (e.g., Neware, Arbin) to execute test plans accurately.
2. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Performance Analysis: Analyze battery test data, including voltage, current, capacity, energy, SOC, SOH, C-rate, DCIR, ACIR, OCV, and cycle life, to assess cell performance.
- Technical Reporting: Identify cell performance abnormalities and deviations, and prepare technical reports summarizing test findings and conclusions.
- Data Tools: Use tools such as Python, MATLAB, Excel, or LabVIEW for structured test-data analysis and visualization.
3. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Issue Resolution: Coordinate with R&D, Quality, and Engineering teams to identify, investigate, and resolve cell-level performance issues.
- Root-Cause Support: Support root-cause analysis for test failures and abnormal cell behavior, contributing technical inputs from a testing perspective.
- Standards Compliance: Ensure test protocols and charging/discharging conditions align with battery standards such as IEC, ISO, and UN 38.3, and applicable safety standards.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Safety Adherence: Ensure strict adherence to electrical and laboratory safety procedures for lithium-ion cell handling and testing.
- Documentation: Maintain test documentation, traceability and equipment calibration records in line with quality requirements.
- Shift Operations: Support safe, continuous 3-shift rotational testing operations, ensuring consistent test execution and handover across shifts.
