Job summary

Giga Energy in Bengaluru seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the data center power design team. You will collaborate with US-based engineers to develop the Plan of Record and ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE standards for mission-critical power distribution.

You will model power systems using ETAP/SKM, review A&E deliverables, and contribute to equipment specification and BOM creation for a manufacturing-driven supply chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 6–12 years of electrical engineering experience with mission-critical, data center, or heavy industrial facilities.
• Direct working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70 and IEEE standards.
• Experience with electrical system modeling using ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical packages.
• Understanding of high-density power solutions and modern data center topologies.
• Strong written and verbal English communication and ability to collaborate across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with US-based Lead Electrical Engineers to develop and maintain the electrical Plan of Record for Giga Data Centers.

• Assist in selecting and specifying equipment like switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, and busways.
• Generate BOMs, QTOs, and commissioning scripts to support manufacturing-focused supply chain.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• US Engineering Collaboration: Collaborate closely with US-based Lead Electrical Engineers to develop, refine, and maintain the electrical Plan of Record (POR) for Giga Data Centers.
• Technical Documentation: Assist in authoring technical specifications, Basis of Design (BOD) documents, and standard equipment submittals for internal engineering libraries.
• Code & Compliance: Design to US and global standards, ensuring strict compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC / NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, and IEEE standards for mission-critical power distribution.
• A&E Review & Support: Review drawings and deliverables from external US/global Architecture & Engineering (A&E) firms to ensure strict adherence to core power performance intent and standardization requirements.
• Power Systems Analysis: Execute power system studies using tools like ETAP or SKM, including load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flashanalysis.
• High-Density Design: Support the design of medium and low voltage distribution topologies (MV down to rack PDU) aligned with OCP (Open Compute Project) specifications for AI workloads.
• Equipment Specification: Assist in selecting and specifying MV/LV switchgear, generators, UPS systems, transformers, ATS/STS units, and high-ampacity busways.
• Manufacturing Deliverables: Generate detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), Quantity Take Offs (QTOs), and initial commissioning scripts to support a manufacturing-first supply chain.
• Control Narratives: Support the development of Sequence of Operations (SOO) and Control Narratives for EPMS/BMS integration, defining dynamic electrical responses to load changes and utility failures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 6 to 12 years of electrical engineering experience with a strong focus on mission-critical, data center, or heavy industrial facilities.
• Direct working knowledge of US electrical design practices, including the National Electrical Code (NEC / NFPA 70) and IEEE standards.
• Solid experience executing electrical system modeling and analysis using software like ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for producing detailed electrical engineering packages.
• Understanding of high-density power solutions (100kW+ per rack) and modern data center topologies (distributed redundant, block redundant, etc.).
• Experience specifying core electrical equipment (MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators).
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with proven ability to collaborate across distributed, cross-cultural, and international time zones.
