Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Vadodara, India is seeking a Control Design Engineer for the Global Engineering Center. You will develop and refine control designs for distribution transformers, and create detailed electrical schematics and control panel layouts.

Collaborating with mechanical, software, and project management teams, you will support testing, startup, calibration, and performance tuning, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 2 to 8 years of experience in controls & panel design, programming and implementation in industrial environments.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN software.
• Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, PID control and motor control principles.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with IEEE, UL508 and NFPA70 standards; knowledge of EtherNet/IP, PROFINET and Modbus TCP/IP.
• Willingness to travel to other Hitachi factories as required.

Your expertise in engineering principles and practices will contribute to optimizing designs for performance, functionality, and sustainability.

• Develop and refine detailed Controls design, including hardware and software specifications, for Distribution transformers.
• Create and maintain comprehensive electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers to integrate control systems seamlessly.
• Develop and support functional testing plans for new control cabinets, including on-site startup, calibration, and performance tuning.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing control panels, identifying root causes of issues and implementing effective solutions.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in controls engineering, proposing and implementing innovative solutions.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, including functional specifications, test plans and work instructions.
• Participate in design reviews and provide expert feedback to ensure designs meet project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.

Your background

• B.E / B. Tech Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 2 to 8 Years working in controls & panel design, programming, and implementation in an industrial environment. Candidates with higher experience also to be considered.
• Experience with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• Solid knowledge of Electrical schematics; PID control, and motor control principles.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Basic knowledge of IEEE, UL508 and NFPA70 standards.
• Basic understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to travel to other Hitachi factories when required.
