CACTUS is seeking an Editor to leverage subject-matter expertise to evaluate and refine research manuscripts, ensuring scientific accuracy and discipline-specific clarity while enhancing the quality of the language.

You will help researchers worldwide publish in prestigious journals by improving presentation of complex findings and adhering to journal guidelines. Excellent written English and a strong publication record are essential, with prior peer-review experience preferred.

Qualifications

• A PhD degree in Public Health or Epidemiology (mandatory).
• Strong publication record, with 5–10 or more first-author publications (mandatory).
• Prior peer review experience.
• Ability to critically assess study design, methodology, statistics, and interpretation.
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific content and ensure discipline-specific accuracy.
• Excellent written English and attention to detail.
• Prior experience in scientific editing or academic publishing is preferred.

• Ensure that subject-specific terminology, conventions, and scientific arguments are accurate, consistent, and appropriate for the target audience.
• Improve the presentation of complex research findings to enhance their communication and publication readiness.
• Edit manuscripts such that the final text meets the highest standards of academic writing, is free of unclear, illogical, or unidiomatic sentences. Adhere to job-specific guidelines and format manuscripts according to the target journal when required.
