Job summary

Drone Port in India is seeking a capable station manager to run a full-service drone site. You will oversee fleet, pilots, customer queues and the site P&L, ensuring safety and operational excellence from dawn to dusk.

You will lead a team of five pilots and a bookings staff, coaching them to meet utilization, reliability and revenue targets while managing escalations and future service opportunities. A strong quantitative mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering or master's degree is mandatory.
• Strong quantitative ability for capacity, cost and break-even arithmetic daily.
• Demonstrable leadership with ability to hold people to a standard.
• Technical confidence with drone systems, batteries, positioning and payloads.
• Clear Tamil and English, in writing and in difficult conversations.
• Willingness to be based in any of the fifteen districts.
• No prior experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Run one station end to end: fleet availability, pilot rosters, the customer queue and the site P&L.
• Hold the daily flying plan against weather, serviceability and demand—decide what moves when they conflict.
• Own safety on the site, fatigue, chemical handling, airspace clearance and incident reporting.
• Lead five pilots and the booking staff: hiring in, coaching, and maintaining standards.
• Answer to the Park for utilisation, realised rate per acre, collection and uptime.
• Handle escalations from farmers, panchayats and institutional customers while preserving accounts.
• Prepare the site for future services: survey, surveillance, emergency response and air-taxi ground handling.
• Maintain maintenance and spares discipline to ensure aircraft readiness.

The role

A station is a small business with aircraft in it. You will hold the fleet, five pilots, the customer queue and the P&L of one site — and you will answer for all four. This is not a supervisor's job with a better title. It is the person the district calls when something goes wrong at six in the morning, and the person the Park holds to the numbers at the end of the month. We are hiring for judgement and arithmetic, not for years served.

Key responsibilities

• Run one station end to end: fleet availability, pilot rosters, the customer queue and the site P&L.
• Hold the daily flying plan against weather, serviceability and demand — and decide what moves when they conflict.
• Own safety on the site. Fatigue, chemical handling, airspace clearance and incident reporting are yours, not the pilot's.
• Lead five pilots and the booking staff: hiring in, coaching, and holding a standard evenly.
• Answer to the Park for utilisation, realised rate per acre, collection and uptime.
• Handle escalations from farmers, panchayats and institutional customers without losing the account or the rule.
• Prepare the site for services beyond agriculture — survey, surveillance, emergency response and air-taxi ground handling as they arrive.
• Keep the maintenance and spares discipline that decides whether tomorrow has five serviceable aircraft or three.

Eligibility

• An engineering degree or a master's degree. This one is not negotiable.
• Strong quantitative ability — you will be doing capacity, cost and break-even arithmetic daily, often under time pressure.
• Demonstrable leadership: you have held people to a standard and can show how.
• Technical confidence with drone systems, batteries, positioning and payloads — enough to challenge a pilot's judgement, not merely accept it.
• Clear Tamil and English, in writing and in a difficult conversation.
• Willingness to be based in any of the fifteen districts.
• No prior experience is required, and none is expected.
