About Us
At Turgon, we believe there is a massive opportunity to reimagine how IT services are delivered by leveraging a combination of AI agents and humans to build, integrate and run the enterprise stack. AI agents that understand your existing infrastructure, processes and data and can rapidly help you modernize your infrastructure and generate insights about your business. That’s a $1.5T opportunity!
We are a startup based in San Francisco and New Delhi, founded by serial entrepreneurs. We are building out our core team to re-imagine and build an AI Agent version of Accenture. If you are compelled by this vision, let’s chat!
About the Role
As Director of Engineering, you will be the leader of the technical execution arm of Turgon. You will be responsible for building, scaling, and mentoring a team of engineers to deliver the product that powers our AI-native services.
You are no longer writing the code yourself; you are responsible for the output of the engineering organization. You will partner with the CTO and Head of Product to translate the product roadmap into an actionable engineering plan. You will create the processes, culture, and team structure that allow us to move at startup speed while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability. This is a chance to build a high-performing engineering organization with a direct impact on the future of the IT services industry.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Leadership: Build, manage, and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CTO and Head of Product to translate the product roadmap into an engineering plan. Develop and maintain a long-term technology vision and ensure we have the resources to meet the roadmap goals.
- Architectural Oversight: Oversee the high-level technical design of our core platform and ensure that our technical choices align with our long‑term scalability and reliability goals.
- Process & Efficiency: Establish and refine engineering processes (e.g., code reviews, CI/CD, testing) to maximize the team's productivity and maintain high standards for code quality and security.
- Talent Acquisition: Own the hiring process for the engineering team, including screening candidates, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions.
- Performance Management: Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to engineers. Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities for growth and development.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of managing and leading engineering teams.
- Deep Technical Expertise with Agentic AI: You have the experience to assess and guide architectural decisions related to Agentic AI and modern software development practices.
- People Management: You have a demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and motivate high-performing engineering teams. You can provide technical guidance, resolve conflicts, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Strong Communication: You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Process-Oriented: You have a passion for building efficient and scalable engineering processes and a deep understanding of CI/CD, testing, and code quality best practices.
- Startup Mindset: You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can make quick decisions under pressure. You understand the need to balance "perfect code" with "startup speed."
