Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Director-level professional for the Corporate Controllers, Reporting & Accounting team in Mumbai. The role partners with global finance units to provide management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm’s financial resources.

Responsibilities include monthly balance sheet and P&L prep, statutory statements, variance analysis, and coordination with tax, legal and auditors.

Qualifications

• Professional accountancy qualification (CA/CPA) required.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience expected.
• Experience in finance controllership, reporting or analysis preferred.

In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firms financial and capital resources.

This is a Director level position within the Corporate Controllers, Reporting & Accounting team.

What you'll do in the role:

• Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm.
• Responsible for and lead aspects of individual and team deliverables and projects, leveraging in-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segments.
• Adhere to the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls; proactively identify ways to reduce risk in work.
• Act as a culture carrier; embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards.
• Monthly Balance Sheet and P&L preparation and review. Preparing detailed variance analysis
• Preparation and Review of statutory financial statements
• Review of management accounts and variance analysis
• Validation of US Federal Reserve entity level reporting
• Co-ordination of all legal entity activity, with key internal experts such as tax, legal etc.
• Tax Compliance Supporting the Business Units in the setup, opening & close of entities and adapting the entitys ledgers and system requirements.
• Responsible for maintaining key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally including: external auditors, Product Control, Company Secretarial and Tax.

What youll bring to the role:

• In-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment and technical skills, as well as of industry and competitive environment.
• Ability to operate independently with respect to most job responsibilities.
• Ability to provide positive and constructive feedback and innovate processes.
• Professional accountancy qualification (CA/CPA) necessary, with relevant experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills Solid analytical skills
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate, prioritize and manage multiple activities.
• Be confident in maintaining relationships across a variety of senior stakeholders and business areas.
• Ability to manage team work load effectively and balance project, BAU delivery.
• Have the flexibility required to work in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines.
• The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a rounded commercial approach to legal entity controllership and analysis, with proven skills in insightful management reporting, analysis and sound technical accounting skills.
• At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

Skills Desired:

• IFRS and /or USGAAP knowledge an advantage.
• Knowledge of financial products which are used in the financial services industry, such as derivatives, securities lending and repos would be preferred.
