Educational Qualifications
First Class B. Pharm with Master’s degree in Pharmacy (M. Pharm) in appropriate branch of specialization in Pharmacy or Pharm. D (Qualifications must be PCI recognized) with Ph. D degree in any of Pharmacy subjects (Ph.D. Qualifications must be PCI recognized).
Registration as a pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act in the register of pharmacists maintained by a State Pharmacy Council.
Essential Experience
Essential 15 years’ experience in teaching or research out of which 5 years must be as Professor/HOD in a PCI approved/ recognized pharmacy college.
Desirable Experience
Administrative experience in a responsible position.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director (Pharmacy) is the academic and administrative head of the Pharmacy Institute. The role involves providing strategic leadership, ensuring academic excellence, compliance with regulatory bodies (PCI, AICTE, University), promoting research and innovation, and overseeing overall institutional development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership
- Provide vision and leadership for all pharmacy programs (D. Pharm, B. Pharm, M. Pharm, Pharm. D, Ph.D.).
- Ensure effective curriculum planning, delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and evaluation.
- Encourage innovative teaching methods and use of educational technology.
- Monitor academic performance of students and faculty.
2. Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and other regulatory bodies.
- Prepare and submit statutory documents, approvals, inspections, and reports.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
- Ensure accreditation processes (NAAC, NBA, NIRF, etc.).
3. Administrative Management
- Oversee day-to-day administration of the institute.
- Develop and implement institutional policies and procedures.
- Supervise departmental heads, faculty, and non-teaching staff.
- Manage infrastructure, laboratories, libraries, and other facilities.
- Ensure effective timetable planning and academic scheduling.
4. Faculty & Human Resource Development
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff.
- Promote faculty development programs, workshops, and training.
- Encourage faculty research, publications, patents, and funded projects.
- Foster a positive, ethical, and collaborative work culture.
5. Research & Innovation
- Promote research activities and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Support research grants, consultancy projects, and industry-sponsored research.
- Encourage publications in reputed journals and participation in conferences.
- Establish research centers, innovation cells, and incubation facilities.
6. Student Development & Welfare
- Ensure holistic development of students (academic, professional, ethical).
- Promote co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
- Oversee student support systems, mentoring, and grievance redressal.
- Encourage placement activities, internships, and industry exposure.
7. Industry & External Relations
- Build strong relationships with pharmaceutical industries, hospitals, and research organizations.
- Promote MoUs, internships, industrial training, and campus placements.
- Represent the institute in professional bodies, academic forums, and conferences.
8. Strategic Planning & Institutional Growth
- Prepare short-term and long-term development plans.
- Lead initiatives for expansion of academic programs and infrastructure.
- Support branding, ranking, and reputation-building activities.
- Ensure financial sustainability in coordination with management.
