Role Summary
As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Director Finance will provide strategic leadership and fiduciary oversight for the client's financial health and governance. This role is accountable for ensuring world‑class financial practices, transparent compliance with domestic and international regulations, and robust risk management. The incumbent will partner closely with the CEO, Board, and external stakeholders to drive financial sustainability, enable growth, and safeguard organizational credibility.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & Leadership
- Provide financial leadership to the organization, guiding long‑term strategy, planning, and sustainability.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board on financial policies, strategy, and compliance.
- Lead and mentor a high‑performing finance team, fostering a culture of integrity and excellence.
Financial Planning & Operations
- Oversee statutory compliances related to FCRA, CSR investments, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including budgets, forecasts, donor reports, and statutory accounts.
- Establish and institutionalize world‑class financial systems, processes, and controls.
- Liaise with auditors, regulators, and external consultants to ensure credibility and compliance.
Grants & Donor Management
- Design and oversee robust financial management frameworks for donor‑funded programs.
- Ensure donor/government agreements are aligned with organizational governance policies.
- Deliver high‑quality financial reports and insights for donors and stakeholders.
- Review and negotiate MoUs and service contracts with partners and vendors.
Risk & Compliance
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management and compliance framework.
- Lead statutory, donor, and internal audits, ensuring corrective measures strengthen governance.
- Oversee Board governance requirements, including convening meetings and preparing statutory documents.
The Ideal Candidate
- 12+ years of progressive experience in Finance & Compliance, preferably in the development sector/CSR ecosystem.
- Strong expertise in FCRA, CSR regulations, and donor financial management.
- Proven ability to engage at Board level and influence strategic decisions.
- Demonstrated experience in building financial systems and leading high‑performing teams.
- Strong integrity, strategic orientation, and ability to thrive in a dynamic, multi‑stakeholder environment.
