Job description

We are looking for a hands-on Director Engineering, Security to build and lead the engineering organization responsible for our next generation of Network and AI security products.

You will be expected to operate at both the strategic and technical levels - defining architecture and engineering roadmap while remaining close enough to the code and infrastructure to drive critical technical decisions and managing/mentoring the team.

You will lead the development of security products spanning DLP, IDPS/IPS, Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware, Threat Detection, Traffic Inspection, Policy Enforcement, and AI security. You will also help define how our platform protects against emerging threats related to AI Traffic.

The ideal candidate has strong software engineering fundamentals, deep networking and security expertise, experience building, shipping and supporting products/services, and a proven ability to build high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Own

• Own product delivery through the complete lifecycle - requirements, architecture, development, testing, release, deployment, monitoring, customer adoption, and production support for enterprise-grade network security solutions.
• Build, lead, and scale a high-performing software and security engineering organization.
• Drive development of security engines and capabilities including, but not limited:
  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
  • IDS/IPS
  • Anti-Virus / Anti-Malware
  • Threat intelligence
  • Behavioral and anomaly detection
  • AI Security
• Work closely with PM and Field teams to understand customer pain points and rapidly translate them into product capabilities.
• Lead the engineering strategy for securing modern AI environments, including:
  • LLM and generative AI traffic inspection and security.
  • Security for AI APIs, AI applications and agents
  • Detection and prevention of sensitive data being sent to AI services.
  • DLP policies for prompts, responses, files, and contextual data.
  • Detection of malicious or suspicious prompts and AI-related attacks.
  • Protection against prompt injection, data leakage, malicious content, and unauthorized AI usage.
• Understanding emerging security threats, risks, and attack techniques and translating them into practical product capabilities.
• Own and continuously improve a modern, high-velocity software development process and integrate AI Tools into the CI/CD pipeline
• Establish secure coding standards and security-focused code reviews.
• Partner with security research team to translate emerging threats into engineering requirements.

Required Experience

• 15+ years of software engineering and/or security engineering experience, with significant technical leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading and scaling software engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on software development background in C/C++/Golang/Rust.
• Experience building cybersecurity products or network security platforms and delivering complex enterprise software and/or security products in a SaaS model.
• Hands-on experience with multiple security technologies such as DLP, IDPS/IPS, AV/Anti-Malware, traffic inspection, threat detection, and security gateways.
• Good understanding of various networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, IPSEC, Web Proxies, Identity Management etc.)
• Experience with high-performance networking and low-level packet processing.
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience owning the complete SDLC with modern CI/CD pipeline, automated testing, DevSecOps, and production operations.
• Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.
• Demonstrated experience taking products from architecture to production and ongoing customer support.
• Experience with AI/LLM security and/or securing enterprise AI traffic.
• Experience using AI coding assistants and AI development tools at scale.
• Experience with observability platforms and data analytics for threat detection.
• Startup experience, particularly in a company building a product from early architecture through scale.
