Job summary

Amadeus is seeking a Director of Data Management in Bangalore to provide technical leadership for the DSS team. You'll guide global database and streaming operations, owning Elasticsearch and SQL Server, while partnering with global teams on changes, and supporting AI transformation initiatives.

You will develop automated cloud configuration solutions, establish database standards, and drive performance, availability, and cost-efficiency.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience managing large databases in distributed, high-availability environments.
• Experience with large-scale databases (>10 TB) and mission-critical deployments.
• Expertise in replication, DR planning, and performance optimization.
• Cloud deployment and management experience across public/private clouds.
• Understanding of AI concepts and their data implications.

Job Title: Director, Data Management

Scope of Work: Provide technical leadership for the Datastores and Streaming (DSS) team in Bangalore (BLR). Guide and contribute to global database and streaming operations across multiple technologies, following a continuous support model.

Technologies

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality outcomes related to evolution, operations, and support for components owned by the DSS team.
• Partner with global DSS teams on change initiatives and innovations.
• Take ownership for two technologies: Elasticsearch and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Support Artificial Intelligence (AI) transformation initiatives in Bangalore.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to team members.
• In this role, you'll develop automated solutions for public cloud data centre system configurations.
• Introduce and recommend modern approaches to database management.
• Design and maintain reference database architectures, including disaster recovery and data replication strategies.
• Improve availability, performance, and serviceability across systems.
• Establish and evolve database standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with application and product teams to ensure robust database and streaming integration.
• Optimize hardware and cloud resource utilization for maximum efficiency.
• Drive cost-effective solutions across resources and operations.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve critical database issues.

Your Profile

• Extensive experience in managing large databases for high-availability, distributed systems (typically 12+ years, including leadership responsibilities).
• Proven experience driving database architecture and deployment design.
• Strong understanding of database architecture, large-scale systems (>10 TB), and mission-critical environments.
• Expertise in database administration, configuration, replication, and optimization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle; familiarity with Elasticsearch preferred.
• Understanding of AI concepts and principles.
• Experience in cloud deployment and management.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for high-severity issues.
• Exposure to automation and scheduling tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, and Terraform.
• Awareness of system administration (Linux and Red Hat).
• Understanding of storage systems, networking principles, data encryption, and security best practices.
