Why Technology Consulting
The Technology Consulting business within Global Network invents the future for clients by providing guidance, design thinking and innovative solutions for technological transformation. It focuses on helping clients rethink IT and digital ecosystems, enhance skillsets with leading‑edge technologies such as Cloud, Artificial Intelligence and Platform Engineering, and transform businesses with next‑generation products and services.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead hybrid and multi‑cloud architecture workstreams within large advisory and transformation programs, owning the design and delivery of architecture outcomes across on‑premises, colocation, and public cloud environments. Act as the primary day‑to‑day architecture advisor to client VP and Director‑level technology stakeholders, running architecture design sessions, facilitating platform trade‑off decisions, and maintaining the architecture decision log.
- Own the detailed design of hybrid cloud reference architectures including private cloud platform configurations (VMware Cloud Foundation, Nutanix), hyperscaler extension patterns (AWS Outposts, Azure Arc, Google Distributed Cloud), and hybrid connectivity designs.
- Lead the design of hybrid security architecture for client engagements, developing Zero Trust designs that span on‑premises and cloud, IAM and identity federation models, network segmentation across SD‑WAN and dedicated interconnects, and encryption frameworks that apply consistently across the full hybrid estate.
- Lead multi‑cloud FinOps workstreams, building financial governance frameworks that span infrastructure lifecycle and cloud consumption, designing chargeback and showback models across hybrid environments, and identifying cost optimisation opportunities using CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, and hyperscaler billing platforms.
- Own the IaC and platform engineering architecture across the hybrid estate, defining standards and patterns using Terraform, Ansible, and platform‑specific tooling (vRealize Automation, Nutanix Calm), and designing the governance model that ensures consistent infrastructure delivery. Lead the design of unified observability architectures using Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, and VMware Aria Operations.
- Contribute across adjacent areas, designing hybrid AI infrastructure covering on‑premises GPU environments and hyperscaler AI services; providing cloud architecture inputs to Tech Modernization engagements including Kubernetes on hybrid and GitOps patterns; applying resilience architecture patterns to Technology Resiliency workstreams; and advising on ecosystem decisions covering on‑premises vendor selection, build‑buy‑partner choices, and hyperscaler commercial models.
- Support business development through proposal contributions, hybrid cloud architecture solutioning, and client presentations. Identify and shape follow‑on engagement opportunities. Contribute to reusable assets, reference architectures, and points of view that strengthen the practice’s hybrid cloud advisory capability.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. A Master’s degree (MBA, MSc in Cloud Computing, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Certifications:
- Required: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) OR Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ‑305) OR Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect (at least one)
- Good‑to‑have: VMware Cloud Foundation Architect; Nutanix Certified Professional (Multicloud); Red Hat OpenShift Administration
- Experience: 9‑14 years of relevant experience in consulting, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise technology organizations. At least 4 years leading hybrid and multi‑cloud architecture workstreams within enterprise advisory or transformation programs, with direct ownership of architecture design and client stakeholder management at VP and Director level.
- Hands‑on experience designing and delivering hybrid cloud architectures: private cloud platform configurations (VMware Cloud Foundation, Nutanix), hyperscaler extension patterns (AWS Outposts, Azure Arc, Google Distributed Cloud), hybrid connectivity designs (SD‑WAN, dedicated interconnects), and workload placement strategies across on‑premises and cloud tiers.
- Strong experience designing security architecture across hybrid estates: developing Zero Trust designs, IAM and identity federation models (Active Directory, Entra ID, Okta), network segmentation across SD‑WAN and interconnects, and encryption frameworks that apply consistently across the full hybrid environment.
- Experience leading multi‑cloud FinOps workstreams: building financial governance frameworks, designing chargeback and showback models, and identifying cost optimisation opportunities using CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, and hyperscaler billing platforms.
- Experience contributing hybrid cloud architecture inputs to adjacent workstreams: designing hybrid AI infrastructure covering on‑premises GPU environments and hyperscaler AI services; supporting Tech Modernization engagements with hybrid Kubernetes and GitOps patterns; applying resilience architecture to Technology Resiliency workstreams.
- Experience supporting business development: contributing to proposals, solutioning, and client presentations; identifying and shaping follow‑on opportunities.
