Job summary

Thanal Trust is seeking a Unit & Operations Manager for its dialysis unit in Kerala. You will oversee daily scheduling, patient flow, and safety, while supervising nurses and technicians and conducting ongoing training.

You will also coordinate device maintenance and water treatment processes to ensure reliable, compliant care. The role requires 5+ years in a hemodialysis setting with leadership experience, plus strong infection-control and CQI focus to maintain high standards of patient

Qualifications

• B.Sc Nursing or GNM with relevant dialysis supervisory experience.
• B.Sc / Diploma in Dialysis Technology with supervisory experience.
• 5+ years of clinical experience in hemodialysis with leadership.
• Experience in infection control and safety compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee unit scheduling, staff shifts, patient flow, and safety.

Unit & Operations Management

• Oversee daily scheduling, shift rosters, and patient flow for inpatient and outpatient dialysis treatments.
• Ensure the unit runs smoothly, maintaining high standards of patient throughput and safety.
• Manage inventory, medical supplies, dialyzers, and consumables to prevent stockouts.

2. Staff Supervision & Training

• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate dialysis technicians, nurses, and junior staff.
• Conduct periodic training sessions on clinical protocols, emergency handling, and equipment operation.
• Assign duties and monitor shift attendance and performance standards.

3. Patient Care & Clinical Oversight

• Ensure comprehensive, end-to-end patient care management from pre-dialysis assessment to post-treatment recovery.
• Monitor high-risk or unstable patients and coordinate immediately with nephrologists or medical officers during complications.
• Oversee patient education regarding fluid restrictions, diet, access care (fistula/graft/catheter), and treatment compliance.

4. Equipment & Water Treatment Maintenance

• Supervise the continuous monitoring and maintenance of Hemodialysis machines and Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plants to ensure pure product water.
• Ensure strict adherence to machine calibration, disinfection, and dialyzer reprocessing protocols.
• Coordinate prompt repairs or servicing with biomedical engineering teams.

5. Quality Control, Compliance & Safety

• Ensure strict compliance with hospital infection control, biomedical waste management, and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, treatment records, quality assurance logs, and audit files.
• Implement continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives within the unit

Requirements

• • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing) or General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with specialized experience, OR
  • B.Sc / Diploma in Dialysis Technology with extensive supervisory experience.
• • Typically 5+ years of clinical experience in a hemodialysis unit, with prior leadership or senior technician/nurse experience
