Job description

Job Title: DevOps Lead - Tulip & Historian

GCL : D3

Introduction to role:

Are you ready to build the data backbone of modern manufacturing and accelerate how life-changing medicines reach patients? Step into a global leadership role where your decisions will standardize and scale historian and MES capabilities across multiple sites, unlocking real-time insight, traceability, and compliant execution on the shop floor.

As DevOps Lead for Aveva - PI Historian and TULIP MES, you will guide a team of engineers alongside delivery partners in providing robust, secure, and collaboratively coordinated solutions. You will set global standards, govern change, and drive automation that improves reliability and speed from pilot to scale. Do you want to turn plant-floor data into decisions that improve quality, minimize downtime, and enable end-to-end visibility worldwide?

You will collaborate multi-functionally with business partners, site operations, automation, infrastructure, quality, validation, cybersecurity, and vendors to deliver outcomes that matter: compliant digital workflows, trusted data for analytics, and a platform approach that accelerates continuous improvement.

Accountabilities:

Global Historian Delivery: Lead the design and rollout of Aveva PI Historian projects across regions and sites, ensuring resilience, scalability, and repeatability.

Standards and Playbooks: Establish global standards, guidelines, templates, and implementation playbooks that drive speed, consistency, and audit readiness.

Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical authority for PI System capabilities (architecture, AF, Event Frames, PI Vision, integrations, reports, analytics) to meet manufacturing and quality needs.

multi-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with business, site teams, automation and infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and suppliers to prioritize value and remove delivery blockers.

DevOps and Automation: Embed DevOps practices, CI/CD, and automation to improve deployment velocity, platform reliability, and operational efficiency; adopt modern digital and AI-enabled tools to enhance ways of working.

Compliance and Validation: Ensure solutions meet GMP, data integrity, and cybersecurity requirements; govern validation documentation, change control, and lifecycle management for regulated environments.

Risk and Stake-holder Management: Proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and stake-holder communications across complex, multi-site programs.

Demand and Portfolio Shaping: Conduct feasibility assessments, solution design reviews, estimation, and resource planning to shape the roadmap and prioritize impact.

Service Governance: Govern change, release, incident, and problem management processes for the PI platform to maintain stability and performance.

Enterprise Integrations: Oversee integrations between historian, MES, SCADA, DCS, ERP, manufacturing intelligence, and enterprise applications to enable timely, trusted data flows.

TULIP MES Leadership: Lead TULIP solution design and application governance; deploy digital workflows for execution, electronic records, quality checks, material traceability, and operator guidance.

TULIP Integrations and Traceability: Govern integrations between TULIP, PI, SCADA, PLCs, ERP, LIMS, data platforms, and edge devices for real-time visibility and end-to-end traceability.

Vendor and Partner Management: Partner with global vendors and delivery partners to implement programs, scale support, and ensure service excellence.

Knowledge and Capability Building: Encourage collaboration, documentation, and skill development to grow a high-performing global engineering team.

Essential Skills/Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in Industrial IT, Manufacturing Systems, Data Historian platforms, or Operational Technology environments.
  • Proven experience leading global historian projects and multi-site deployments.
  • Strong understanding of PI System architecture including:
  • Experience integrating PI with automation systems such as SCADA, PLC, DCS, Manufacturing execution System, and Manufacturing Intelligence platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with TULIP Manufacturing execution System platform capabilities including app building, connectors, triggers, tables, dashboards, user interfaces, operator workflows, and shop-floor data capture.
  • Experience designing and deploying TULIP-based digital manufacturing workflows such as electronic batch records, line clearance, equipment setup, quality checks, deviation capture, material movement, and traceability processes.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, ALCOA+ data integrity, qualification records, modification management, audit readiness, and compliant lifecycle management for MES applications.
  • Strong knowledge of ISA-95 and Manufacturing Operations Management architectures.
  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Good understanding of cloud and hybrid architecture concepts.
  • Experience managing global vendors, system integrators, and offshore delivery teams.
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, FMCG, Chemicals, or Manufacturing.
  • Graduate in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical subject area.
Desirable Skills/Experience:

Understanding of cybersecurity requirements for manufacturing environments.

Project Management, Agile, or Scrum certifications.

Exposure to TULIP Edge IO, industrial device connectivity, REST APIs, Node.js, Power BI, low-code/no-code application development, and integration patterns for digital manufacturing platforms.
