Job summary

Qualifications

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data platforms on AWS.
  • Build and operate serverless and containerized workloads using AWS Lambda, EC2, and EKS.
  • Develop batch and large-scale data processing solutions using Apache Spark.
  • Implement data ingestion, transformation, and analytics using AWS Glue and Athena.
  • Write complex and high-performance SQL queries for analytics, reporting, and data validation.
  • Manage and optimize data storage solutions using AWS S3 and RDS.
  • Design and manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with CloudFormation.
  • Apply AWS security best practices across IAM, VPC networking, data encryption, and access controls.
  • Develop clean, scalable, and maintainable code using Python and/or Scala.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize performance, cost, and reliability of data workloads.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support analytics, reporting, and regulatory use cases.

Job description

Embark on a transformative journey as part of the Development Team Lead, where you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the resilience, scalability, and reliability of critical data systems within the Finance Data Transformation team. You will be a key contributor championing quality and performance for systems that power Finance and Treasury processes / applications, focusing on driving improvements in system stability, efficiency, and control.

Working closely with BA, SA, Engineering teams and stakeholders across Finance Data Transformation team, you will help deliver high-performing solutions through agile delivery models. You will collaborate to understand system benchmarks, identify performance bottlenecks, and lead performance engineering initiatives while interfacing with technology partners to ensure optimal system behaviour under varying load conditions.

Leading the ongoing drive to enhance platform performance and reliability, you will champion a data-driven and collaborative approach, ensuring that performance considerations are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle. Additionally, ensuring compliance with performance standards, risk controls, and service-level expectations will be a key responsibility.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data platforms on AWS.

Highly Valued Skills
  • Good knowledge of AWS Security, including IAM policies, VPC security, encryption, and least‑privilege access.
  • Hands‑on programming experience with Python and/or Scala.
  • Strong experience with Apache Spark for large‑scale data processing.
  • Solid understanding of data engineering concepts such as ETL/ELT, data modelling, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with DBT for data transformations.
  • Hands‑on exposure to Snowflake.
  • Experience working with Databricks.
  • Familiarity with modern data lake / lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in distributed teams.
  • Good communication skills to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with AWS services, including S3, Lambda, EC2, EKS, AWS Glue, Athena, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, complex queries, joins, aggregations, user defined functions, performance tuning, & query optimization.
Purpose of the role

Accountabilities

  • Creation of operational design and process design to ensure that proposed solutions are delivered within the agreed scope.
  • Support to change management activities, including development of a traceability matrix to ensure proposed solutions are successfully implemented and embedded in the organisation.
