Job description

About Sarvam Sarvam is building the bedrock of Sovereign AI for India. The company is developing India's full-stack sovereign AI platform, building across research, models, infrastructure and applications with a singular focus on making AI genuinely work for India. Sarvam works with leading enterprises and public institutions and is backed by Lightspeed, Peak XV, and Khosla Ventures. Sarvam partners with India's leading brands, including Tata Capital, SBI Life, CRED, IDFC, and LIC.

About The Role

DevRel at Sarvam is part engineering, part content, part community - and this role manages the community pillar.

You will be the person who makes Sarvam's developer community a place builders want to belong to. That means running our Discord day to day, designing and operating community programs - hackathons, meetups, office hours, workshops - and making sure every developer who shows up gets a great experience, whether they're asking their first question or shipping their tenth project.

But community at Sarvam isn't just events and engagement metrics. At the core of this role is empathy: you notice where developers get stuck, what they're excited about, and what's missing - and you carry that insight back to the engineering and product teams to close the loop. Feedback is not a side effect of this role. It's one of its most important outputs.

What You'll Do
  • Manage the Discord community - manage our developer community: moderation, onboarding flows, channel structure, engagement rituals, and maintaining channels by triaging questions and routing them to the right people.
  • Design and run community programs - plan and execute hackathons, meetups, office hours, workshops, and campus outreach end to end: concept, logistics, promotion, on-the-ground execution, and follow-up.
  • Recognise and grow our best builders - identify our most engaged developers and create structured ways to recognise them, give them a platform, and help them grow within the community.
  • Grow the community - run initiatives that bring new developers in: partnerships with colleges and developer communities, collaborations with other devtool ecosystems, and community-led content.
  • Be the voice of the community - synthesise what developers are saying into structured feedback for the engineering, product, and DevRel teams. Spot recurring friction points and champion fixed>
  • Track what matters - monitor community health metrics (activity, retention, response times, program participation, NPS) and use them to decide what to double down on.
What We're Looking For
  • 1-3 years of experience in community management, developer programs, or a related role - ideally in a devtools, developer platform, or open-source ecosystem.
  • You have experience building a community from the ground up - and scaling it. You've started something with a handful of members and grown it into a real, active community. You know what it takes at every stage, from the first ten people to the first ten thousand.
  • You're comfortable around developers and code. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should understand how developers work, be able to follow technical conversations, and know when a question needs an engineer's answer.
  • You're an organiser at heart. Events, logistics, follow-ups, timelines - you enjoy running things end to end and nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.
  • You write clearly and warmly. Announcements, Discord replies, program docs - your writing makes people feel welcome and informed.
  • You move fast and follow through. You can take a loosely defined brief - 'run a hackathon next month' - and ship something polished without being hand-held.
  • You're genuinely community-minded. You find energy in helping other builders succeed, and you treat every interaction as a chance to learn what the community needs.
  • Bonus: You've organised hackathons or large meetups, run community programs at scale, have experience with community tooling (Discord bots, analytics), or have an interest in AI and Indian languages.
