The candidate will produce detailed drawings for fabrication and erection, using SDS2, and coordinate with project teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with AISC, AWS, OSHA, and NISD standards.

Responsibilities include preparing shop drawings, reviewing drawings for clarity, and maintaining document control while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in civil or mechanical engineering is required
• 1–6 years of SDS2 steel detailing experience is a MUST
• Working knowledge of AISC, OSHA, AWS, and other industry standards is a MUST
• Strong experience reading structural/architectural drawings
• Knowledge of steel fabrication and erection
• Ability to read blueprints, plans, and specifications
• Basic mathematics including geometry and trigonometry
• Knowledge of welding specifications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

The challenge will be extensive in the US locations to mirror this same practice (considering the US as a nation and culture operates on extensive waste in the name of convenience) but this effort, in essence, is the core of our company’s culture.

The company has recently acquired parcels of land in both Atlanta, GA and in Broomfield, CO with buildout plans to follow best-practice sustainability principles, such as Earthship Architecture. We plan to use as close to 100% recycled or reused materials as we can. The sites will consist of office space for employees, a co-working space for the community, residential quarters for employees, a walk-up café/juice bar with outdoor seating for the community, an outdoor multi-use kitchen, as well as a beautiful garden and habitat for various farm animals. Ultimately, the goal of our offices is to become a model for sustainability practices in construction that promote healthy living. Additionally, the locations will serve as educational resource centers for the use of recycled goods, in conjunction with a site to supply recycled materials to the community. In doing this, we aim to make recycled materials more available to the public and the construction industry.

JOB TITLE - DETAILER

Profile Summary

The Detailer produces detailed drawings for steel fabricators and erectors. The Detailer prepares detailed plans,fabrication and erection drawings and other documents (columns, beams, braces, trusses, stairs, handrails, joists, metaldecking, etc.) used in the construction of commercial buildings, industrial plants, and various non-building structures. Requires knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Welding Society (AWS), TheOccupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and National Institute of Steel Design (NISD) standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Work closely with Modelers/Checkers and Project Managers to prepare/submit fabrication and erection drawings for structural and architectural projects for commercial/industrial buildings
• Serve as a support analyst and operate detailing platforms such as SDS2,etc.
• Must comply with the requirements of the design drawings and all industry standards and protocols, such as those established by the AISC and AWS while complying with current OSHA and NISD guidelines
• Provide support in editing standards and/or company procedures which relate to steel detailing
• Must have experience and knowledge of existing engineering codes, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences
• Detailer will suggest solutions anywhere drawings have insufficient information, which are subject to the approval of the architect and structural engineer
• Conduct Document Control through revision by keeping track of changes during the drawing creation workflow
• Prepare approval, erection and fabrication drawings for projects using SDS2,etc.
• Accurately complete and check all necessary system input for finalization of fabrication and erection drawings, shop details, and Bill of Materials
• Communicate complex and technical application issues to non-technical parties verbally and/or written
• Ability to meet scheduled deadlines on a regular basis while maintaining a high level of accuracy, quality, and being able to manage multiple projects at once

Qualifications and Technical Competencies

• Bachelor’s/Diploma degree of civil or mechanical engineering is required - work experience in SDS2 may substitute as an equivalent to a Bachelor’s/Diploma degree
• 1-6 years of experience in steel detailing on SDS2 is a MUST
• Working knowledge of AISC codes, OSHA, AWS, and other industry standards is a MUST
• Strong experience in reading and interpreting structural/architectural design drawings
• Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and erection
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
• Basic mathematics including geometry and trigonometry
• Knowledge of welding specifications
• Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and Google Workspace
