Design & Planning Intern – Electrical Power Systems
The Design & Planning Intern will support the engineering and project teams in electrical system design, planning, documentation, and site coordination. The role is ideal for candidates with strong technical fundamentals, excellent presentation and communication skills, and the ability to confidently explain designs and technical concepts to internal teams and clients.
Requirements
- Educational Qualification
- B.E / B.Tech – Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Final year students or recent graduates)
- M.Tech / PG Diploma in Power Systems / Energy Systems (preferred)
- Internship Options & Compensation
- Option A: Pursuing Students (3–6 Months | No PPO)
- Training: 0–1 Months (Unpaid)
- Stipend: ₹5000 from 2nd months
- Certificate & LOR: After 3 months
- Option B: Graduate Trainees (6–12 Months | No PPO)
- Training: 0–1 Months (Unpaid)
- Stipend: ₹10000 from 2nd months
- Certificate & LOR: After 6 months
Responsibilities
- Electrical Design & Engineering Support
- Assist in design and planning of electrical power systems for residential; commercial; and industrial projects
- Support preparation of:
- Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
- Load calculations and demand assessment
- Cable sizing and voltage drop calculations
- Earthing and lightning protection layouts
- Power distribution and lighting layouts
- Planning & Project Coordination
- Assist in preparing design drawings; planning schedules; and technical documentation
- Coordinate with project; execution; and site teams for design clarifications
- Support planning of materials; manpower; and execution sequencing
- Site & Field Exposure (Bangalore Region)
- Visit project sites to understand real-time execution vs design
- Assist in site surveys; measurements; and as-built documentation
- Coordinate with contractors; supervisors; and vendors for technical inputs
- Presentation & Technical Communication
- Prepare technical presentations; design proposals; and concept notes
- Present design intent; planning logic; and system functionality to internal teams
- Assist senior engineers during client discussions and technical meetings
- Standards; Codes & Compliance
- Support compliance with relevant standards and regulations such as:
- IS Codes
- CEA Regulations
- BESCOM / KPTCL / CEIG guidelines
- Assist in preparation of drawings and documents for statutory approvals
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain proper design documentation and revision control
- Prepare basic BOQs; material take-offs; and technical summaries
- Support preparation of feasibility studies and technical reports
- Hands-on exposure to live electrical and power infrastructure projects
- Direct mentoring from senior design and project engineers
- Practical understanding of design-to-execution workflow
- Internship certificate and performance-based PPO

Skills Required
- Technical Skills (Mandatory)
- Strong fundamentals in Electrical Power Systems
- Knowledge of Power distribution systems; Transformers; DG sets; UPS; panels; Solar PV systems (basic understanding preferred)
- Ability to understand and interpret electrical drawings
- Software & Tools
- AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Basic knowledge of ETAP / Dialux / SketchUp (preferred)
- MS Excel (calculations & schedules)
- MS PowerPoint (professional technical presentations)
- Communication & Soft Skills
- Excellent presentation and technical explanation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication (English mandatory; Kannada preferred)
- Ability to convincingly explain designs; planning logic; and system benefits
- Confident interaction with engineers; clients; and site personnel
