Job summary

Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH & Co. KG in Pune invites an experienced mechanical design engineer to join our automotive team.

You will design components and assemblies, perform technical calculations, and ensure fit, function and production readiness from concept through V0/V2 releases, coordinating with project engineers and suppliers. The ideal candidate has a B.E./B.Tech in mechanical/production or automotive engineering, 5–8 years in automotive design, CATIA V5 CAD skills, GD&T knowledge and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Production/Automotive engineering or five years related experience in automotive field.
  • Experience: 5-8 years in automotive design.
  • CATIA V5 CAD design expertise.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing proficiency.
  • Basic engineering calculations.
  • Knowledge of metal and plastic design and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Design related project coordination from RFQ stage until production approval with collaboration of the project engineer.
  • Propose and conduct concept drafts.
  • Analyze design interfaces between customer and supplier.
  • Create/develop/realize designs in CAD within the agreed time and quality requirements.
  • Responsible for functionality of created products.
  • Propose VA/VE ideas in collaboration with purchasing, quality, tooling, testing/simulation and project engineer.
  • Represent design activities during product development and coordinate with HQ engineers, test engineers and project engineer.
  • Monitor and ensure quality of work from supporting engineers.
  • Create designs, assembly drawings, BOMs for new and series production per Brose standards.
  • Perform technical calculations (strength, weight, package, performance), simulations (kinematics, FEM Catia GPS) and interpret results.
  • Calculate functional dimensions and tolerances from testing/simulation results.
  • Support reaching agreements on design details.
  • Participate in APQP meetings with local suppliers and reviews with suppliers.
  • Participate in Development Team Meetings and design/engineering reviews.
  • Ensure designs are available for releases (V0, V1, V2) and customer samples.
  • Support benchmarking of products.
  • Adhere to Brose procedures, instructions and standards.

Your Tasks

  • Design related project coordination from RFQ stage until production approval with collaboration of the project engineer.
  • Propose and conduct concept drafts.

  • Creates/develops/realizes designs in CAD within the agreed time and quality requirements.
  • Responsible for functionality of created products.
  • Design related VA/VE proposals which requires close working with team members from purchasing, quality, tooling, testing/simulation and project engineer.
  • Represents all design activities during product development, which requires close co-operation with team engineers, component experts, HQ engineers, test engineers and project engineer. Independent member of the development team.
  • Monitors and responsible for the quality of work from supporting engineers.
  • Independent creation of designs, assembly drawings, single part drawings, bill of materials for new and series production products in accordance with: Brose standards and procedures; Brose PDP; product workshop assumptions/goals; customer specification; use of standard components; reuse of designs and parts; Brose production feasibilities and standards; customer design standards; Brose quality standards.
  • Perform technical calculations (strength, weight, package, performance), simulations (kinematics, FEM Catia GPS) and organize complex technical calculations and interpret results.
  • Independent calculation of functional dimensions and tolerances in accordance with the results of testing and simulation.
  • Provides support reaching agreements regarding design details.
  • Active participation in APQP meetings with local suppliers and informal reviews with suppliers.
  • Active participation in Development Team Meetings (EAK), in formal design/engineering reviews Checklist, DFMEA, FEM meetings, specification review, etc.), and informal reviews with development team engineers (Project-EW, VS, SN).
  • Ensures designs being made available in accordance in a timely manner to support releases (V0, V1 , V2 release, customer sample requests, test sample requests, etc.)
  • Support Benchmarking of products.
  • Considers all valid procedures, job instructions and organizational instructions.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's degree (B. E or B. Tech.) in Mechanical or Production or Automotive engineering is preferred or five years related professional experience in the automotive field and with experience in automotive mechanisms / mechatronics; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 5-8 Years.
  • CAD design 3D and 2D CATIA V5.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Basic engineering calculations.
  • Good Knowledge in metal and plastic design and manufacturing.
  • Good Analytical skills.
  • Knowledge on Side door mechanical components and interfaces.
