Job summary

Adani Power Limited in Korba, Chhattisgarh, invites an experienced ecologist to lead terrestrial ecology surveys, data analysis, and regulatory reporting.   • 5+ years of relevant experience in ecological surveying, monitoring, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct seasonal surveys of terrestrial flora and fauna within a 10 km vicinity of a power station.
  • Perform extensive monitoring of avifauna and interpret terrestrial ecology data using diversity indices.
  • Prepare and submit half-yearly terrestrial ecological survey reports with insights for ecological management.
  • Coordinate with the horticulture department for development and tracking of green zones.
  • Coordinate, collect data, and submit Annual Terrestrial Ecology reports for other operational sites of APL.
  • Manage data collection and submission for sustainability reporting at the site level.
  • Oversee terrestrial-related ISO certifications and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to ecological and environmental policies.
  • Interact with statutory bodies like State forest departments and government offices for data generation.
  • Participate in plant-level safety and 5S initiatives to promote operational excellence.
  • Ensure safety of personnel and equipment through training and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with external agencies for Environmental Impact Assessment studies.
  • Conduct training sessions on legal aspects related to terrestrial ecology.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact and promote biodiversity conservation.
  • Implement measures to enhance resource efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Drive digitization strategies to optimize data collection and analysis.
  • Develop automation solutions to support ecological monitoring capabilities.
  • Review and implement process improvements to advance ecological assessment methods.
  • Promote integration of advanced technology and digitization within the department.

Job description

Ecological Reporting and Regulatory Adherence:

Coordinate, collect data, and submit Annual Terrestrial Ecology reports for other operational sites of APL, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

At the site level, manage the collection and submission of data for sustainability reporting, addressing observations raised by auditors and providing necessary backups.

Oversee terrestrial-related ISO certifications, maintaining compliance with international standards and best practices.

Conduct assigned internal audits to ensure adherence to ecological and environmental policies and procedures.

Interact with statutory bodies like State forest departments, government offices, and institutions for data generation and authentication.

Plant Level Engagement and Safety:

Actively participate in plant-level functions such as safety and 5S initiatives, contributing to a culture of operational excellence and workplace organization.

Ensure the safety of business associates and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols, minimizing risks and promoting a safe working environment.

Coordinate with external agencies for conducting Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies for upcoming projects, and thorough ecological evaluations.

Conduct training sessions for business associates on legal aspects related to terrestrial ecology, enhancing awareness and compliance.

Business Sustainability:

Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department, promoting sustainable practices and compliance.

Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact and promote biodiversity conservation, aligning with the company's sustainability goals.

Implement measures to enhance resource efficiency and reduce waste, contributing to the company's environmental stewardship.

Digitization and Automation:

Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency, streamlining data collection and analysis processes.

Innovate and implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals and strategy, enhancing ecological monitoring capabilities.

Review and implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas to advance ecological assessment methods.

Drive the integration of advanced technology and digitization within the department, ensuring the use of cutting‑edge tools for ecological surveys.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification:

Master's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field with a focus on terrestrial ecosystems/.PhD (preferred)

Work Experience (Range of years):

5+ years of relevant experience in ecological surveying, monitoring, and data analysis.

Preferred Industry:

Experience in the power sector or related industries with a strong background in environmental management and sustainability practices.
