Job Purpose
The Shift Engineer - Mechanical manages mechanical equipment, executes maintenance activities, responds to emergencies, ensures safety, collaborates with stakeholders, and drives continuous improvement for optimal equipment performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Supervise mechanical systems and utilities during shifts, ensuring efficient operation and swift resolution of issues to maintain continuous production.
- Oversee the inventory of mechanical components and spare parts, ensuring accurate tracking and timely replenishment to support maintenance operations and minimize equipment downtime, while adhering to budget constraints.
- Monitor and control pumps, compressors, and conveyors for optimal performance. Troubleshoot and resolve issues to ensure equipment availability.
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance and inspections on mechanical systems and equipment to ensure reliability and efficiency, following established protocols to identify potential issues and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Develop and implement maintenance plans for equipment. Optimize schedules and spare parts to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Address mechanical breakdowns swiftly to avoid production disruptions. Coordinate with teams to restore normal operations quickly.
- Follow safety protocols and conduct inspections. Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Perform in-depth troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures on mechanical systems to identify root causes of failures, utilizing specialized tools and techniques to restore functionality and improve overall equipment performance.
- Work with production, engineering, and maintenance teams for equipment integration. Build relationships with suppliers and contractors to solve mechanical issues.
- Enhance equipment performance and reduce costs through new technologies and best practices like predictive maintenance.

Qualifications
Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is essential. Strong practical knowledge of mechanical equipment, troubleshooting, and maintenance is crucial.
Work Experience (Range Of Years)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial setting. Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensure equipment reliability, and adhere to safety standards. Demonstrated ability to work in a shift environment and handle emergencies effectively.
