Apeejay Shipping Limited in Kolkata seeks an experienced DGM – Finance & Accounts to lead the finance and accounting function. The role focuses on finalization, reconciliations, treasury management, and cost optimization for a shipping/ logistics portfolio.

The incumbent will manage budgeting, MIS, audits, tax compliance and stakeholder liaison, driving profitability and cash flow in a complex asset-heavy business.

Qualifications

• CA-qualified with extensive experience in finance and accounts.
• Proven track record in managing end-to-end financial processes.
• Experience in shipping/logistics or asset-intensive industries is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, cash flow forecasting and long-term projections.
• Develop financial models for expansion, investments and capital allocation.
• Monitor performance vs budget and provide variance analysis to management.
• Suggest actions for cost overruns, revenue gaps and working capital pressures.
• Develop MIS dashboards and management reporting for timely decisions.
• Oversee month-end/year-end closing, reconciliations and finalization of accounts.
• Ensure compliance with Ind-AS, taxation, statutory requirements and internal controls.
• Monitor shipping/vessel expenses and drive cost reduction and optimization.
• Provide financial insights to improve profitability and liquidity.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced DGM – Finance & Accounts to drive the Finance & Accounting function. The candidate should have strong hands‑on expertise in Accounts Finalization, Reconciliations, Payables & Receivables, Audit closures, Banking & Treasury, Fund management, Stakeholder Management.

Mandatory Qualification - Chartered Accountantancy

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting, Forecasting & MIS

• Lead preparation of annual budgets, operating plans, cash flow forecasts, and long‑term financial projections.


• Develop financial models to support business expansion, investments, capital allocation, and strategic initiatives.


• Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis to management.


• Recommend corrective actions for cost overruns, revenue gaps, and working capital pressures.


• Develop and improve MIS dashboards and management reporting for timely decision‑making.

Finance, Accounting & Controls

• Oversee accounting operations, month‑end/year‑end closing, reconciliations, and finalization of accounts.


• Ensure compliance with Ind-AS, taxation, statutory requirements, and internal financial controls.


• Monitor shipping/vessel‑related expenses and drive Dry Dock cost reduction and operational cost optimization.


• Strengthen cost controls and provide financial insights to improve profitability.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

• Ensure timely closure of audit observations.


• Manage tax assessments, litigation, statutory filings, and regulatory compliance.


• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, government authorities, DGFT, and other external agencies.

Treasury, Banking & Controls

• Manage banking relationships, treasury, cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and fund requirements.


• Oversee banking facilities, fund‑based/non‑fund‑based limits, guarantees, LC, debt, and financing arrangements.


• Support refinancing, capital raising, and negotiations with banks/financial institutions.


• Monitor forex, interest rate, liquidity, and financial risks.

Payables, Receivables & Working Capital

• Oversee vendor payments, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and ageing.


• Ensure timely reconciliations and resolution of outstanding vendor/customer balances.


• Improve working capital and cash conversion through effective fund and collection management.

Candidate Profile

• 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in Shipping/ Maritime/Logistics, or other asset‑intensive industries.


• Strong expertise in Accounting, Reconciliations, Finalization, Audit Closures, AP/AR, Vendor Payments, Treasury, Banking, and Working Capital.


• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills with banks, auditors, vendors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.


• Proven leadership capability with a strong focus on cost optimization, compliance, controls, cash flow, and business growth.
