Qualifications

  • Experience in credit risk analysis of corporate debt investments.
  • Strong ability to interact with company management and rating agencies.
  • Knowledge of IRDA norms is desirable.
  • Familiarity with macroeconomic indicators and portfolio management.

Deputy Chief Manager
Job Purpose

The purpose of the job is to conduct assessment of credit risk amongst the corporate debt investment portfolio for both the existing and new/incremental investments in order to enable the debt fund team to optimise fund performance. The role will also be responsible for updating the fund management team on key macro economic variables.

  • Effectively monitoring a large and diversified portfolio given the constraints of manpower and time.
  • Giving quality credit calls in a very dynamic environment where domestic and global economy is changing very fast.
Key Result Areas
KRA1

Conducting credit risk analysis for new corporate debt investment proposals thereby enhancing the coverage of the approved debt universe.

  1. Interact with the investee company’s management.
  2. Preparing credit risk research report on the company.
  3. Ensure compliance with internal as well as IRDA norms.
  4. Debt Universe amongst manufacturing sector has increased from 30 companies in March 2009 to 64 companies as on March 2012.
  5. New inclusions to the debt universe are backed by in‑depth research on fundamentals of companies, industry competitiveness, domestic and global demand‑supply scenario, external risk factors, and various sensitives considered while projecting the companies’ financials (e.g., demand growth, capacity utilisation, input cost pressures, interest rate sensitivity).
  6. Analysing the management profile and track record is a prior concern before making any investment decision.
  7. Strategy has been to maintain the credit quality of the portfolio.
KRA2

Perform ongoing review of the outstanding debt portfolio in order to minimise the credit risk in the portfolio.

  1. Conduct quarterly result analysis.
  2. Monitoring and analysing rating actions by credit rating agencies.
  3. Regular interaction with company management and rating agencies.
  4. Ensure compliance with internal as well as IRDA norms.
  5. Monitoring & reviewing the credit risk & corresponding credit limits in the outstanding debt portfolio on an ongoing basis by reviewing the trends in business as well as financial profile of the companies.
  6. Credit rating alert list to be reviewed constantly with any deletions/up gradations/critical cases and updated to Fund Management Team.
KRA3

Updating key macro economic global and domestic indicators in order to assess the impact on the economy/sector/companies in the portfolio.

  1. Tracking daily news flow and circulating to fund management team.
  2. Tracking and sharing a fortnightly analysis of domestic indicators and a monthly analysis of global indicators.
