Appointment Rules

• These rules may be called Directorate of Prosecution, GNCTD – Assistant Public Prosecutor Recruitment Rules, 2025
• They shall come into force from the date of publication in the Delhi Gazette
• Applicable to posts specified in the Schedule annexed to the rules

Position Details

• Name of Post: Assistant Public Prosecutor
• Number of Posts: 265 (2025) (Subject to variation depending on workload)

Method of Selection

• Not a direct recruitment post
• Selection method as prescribed in Schedule

Age Limit

• Not exceeding 35 years
• Relaxable for Government servants up to 5 years
• Further relaxations as per Central Government rules

Educational Qualification

• Essential Qualification: Degree in Law from a recognized University / Institute
• Minimum 3 years’ experience at the Bar

Other Eligibility Criteria

• A person shall not be eligible if the person has entered into marriage with a person having a living spouse or has married despite having a living spouse.
• Exception may be granted if permitted under personal law and approved by Government.
