Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Data Platform Instrument Lead to build and maintain data pipelines, warehouses, and lakes. The role focuses on ensuring data accuracy, accessibility, and security within Barclays' data platform in Pune.

You will own technical solutions, work with Python/PySpark, ETL tools, and modern data architectures including data mesh. Collaboration with data scientists and securing data across environments is essential.

As a Strategy and Transformation Lead you will build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate,accessible,and secure.
To be successful as a Data Platform Instrument lead, you should have experience with:

• Hands-on experience in developing applications using Python/ PySPARK
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as AWS Glue / DBT and DataBricks.
• Ability to take ownership of a technical solution, build new things without needing close supervision, learn and apply new tools and technologies, solve problems without needing constant help, make consistent daily progress on design and build.
• Demonstrable working knowledge on different file formats like XML,JSON, Parquet, Iceberg, AVRO.

Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include

• Exposure working with Data Warehousing / Big Data applications.
• Understanding of core AWS services, uses, and AWS architecture best practices with in-depth Knowledge of AWS cloud service like Compute, Network, Storage and Identity & access management.
• Exposure to deployment approach through dev/ ops pipelines. Ideally using Gitlab
• Experience with Data Mesh architecture / design

Purpose of the role
To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate,accessible,and secure.
Accountabilities

• Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
• Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
• Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
• Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.
