Job summary

Espire Infolabs seeks a senior data engineer to own the data migration approach from legacy systems to Salesforce. You will extract from legacy systems into an Azure staging layer, map, cleanse and reconcile data for loading into Salesforce, and collaborate with the Integration Lead and data owners.

You will design the Azure staging layer, lead data mapping for multiple systems, and build pipelines in Azure Data Factory with coding in Azure Functions where needed.

Qualifications

• 10-12 years of data engineering experience with at least one end-to-end migration of millions of records.
• Strong Azure data platform skills and willingness to write code.
• Clear communication with senior stakeholders and non-technical data owners.
• Willing to travel to the UK and work UK office-hours overlap.

Responsibilities

• Design and own the Azure staging layer (ADLS Gen2 zoning: raw, cleansed, curated).
• Lead early data mapping and cleansing for multiple systems (Student records, UGA/Clearing, PGA Ellucian, TargetX).
• Build extraction/transformation pipelines in Azure Data Factory; write code in Azure Functions when needed.
• Identify data quality issues early and coordinate resolutions with LU data owners.
• Maintain migration logs, reconciliation reports, issue trackers and field-level lineage.
• Support cutover readiness and reconciliation; assist Integration Lead on data dependencies.

Role summary
You will own the data migration approach legacy system to Salesforce. That covers extracting from legacy systems into an Azure staging layer, then mapping, cleansing and reconciling data so Creation can load Salesforce. You work closely with the onshore Integration Lead and with LUs data owners.

Responsibilities

• Design and own the Azure staging layer (ADLS Gen2 zoning: raw, cleansed, curated).
• Lead early data mapping and cleansing for Student record management , UGA/Clearing, PGA Ellucian (Dynamics) and TargetX.
• Build extraction and transformation pipelines in Azure Data Factory, and write code in Azure Functions where pipelines aren’t enough.
• Identify data quality issues early and work with LU data owners to resolve them.
• Maintain migration logs, reconciliation reports, issue trackers and field-level lineage.
• Support cutover readiness and reconciliation.
• Support the Integration Lead on data-side dependencies.

Essential skills

• 10-12 years in data engineering, with at least one large-scale migration delivered end to end (millions of records).
• Strong Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL and Azure Functions (C# or Python), with a willingness to write code.
• Data warehousing concepts: dimensional modelling, staging layers, ETL/ELT, data quality and reconciliation.
• Clear communication with senior stakeholders and non-technical data owners.
• Willing to travel to the UK, and to work UK office-hours overlap.

Desirable

• Experience migrating into Salesforce, or from Dynamics or Ellucian.
• Higher education data experience.
