Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Hyderabad is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms using Spark, Databricks, and Snowflake. You will enable enterprise analytics and drive data-driven decisions across the organization.

You will mentor a team, ensure data governance and security, collaborate with stakeholders, and deliver end-to-end analytics products from design through production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; typically 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Big Data/Distributed Systems: Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift or Kafka.
• Data Architecture: data modeling, warehousing (e.g., Snowflake), and ETL/ELT best practices.
• Cloud Platforms: extensive experience with Azure cloud services.
• Data Pipelines: design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Tools & DevOps: orchestration tools (Airflow), CI/CD, Git, Linux (Shell Scripting).
• Languages: Python and/or Scala/Java; SQL & Data Modeling; strong communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms using modern languages and cloud data warehouses (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake).
• Develop resilient data architectures across warehouses, lakes, and streaming environments to support enterprise analytics and reporting.
• Ensure enterprise data security, governance, quality, and standardization across analytics solutions.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of analytics data products from design and development to production support and optimization.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and engineering partners to enable BI, advanced analytics, and ML solutions.
• Mentor and guide a team of data engineers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
• Adhere to company policies, including those related to work location, team assignments, and flexible work arrangements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms using advanced programming languages, and cloud data warehouses (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake)
• Develop resilient data architectures across data warehouses, lakes, and streaming environments to support enterprise analytics and reporting
• Ensure enterprise data security, governance, quality, and standardization across all data and analytics solutions
• Lead the end to end delivery of analytics data products, from design and development through production support and optimization
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and engineering partners to enable business intelligence, advanced analytics, and machine learning solutions
• Mentor and guide a team of data engineers, driving best practices, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Typically 8+ years of relevant experience
• Big Data/Distributed Systems: Experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS Redshift or Kafka
• Data Architecture: Experience with data modeling, warehousing (e.g., Snowflake), and ETL/ELT best practices
• Cloud Platforms: Exhaustive experience of working with Azure cloud services
• Data Pipelines: Knowledge of designing, building, and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines
• Tools & DevOps: Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow), CI/CD, Git, and Linux (Shell Scripting)
• Languages: Solid expertise in Python and/or Scala/Java
• SQL & Data Modeling: Advanced SQL skills for data manipulation and performance tuning
• Soft Skills & Leadership: Demonstrated solid communication, collaboration, and the ability to mentor junior engineers
