Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Director-level Data Engineer to join the FORT (Finance Technology) team. You will design and maintain Snowflake dimensional models, build SQL transformations, and develop ELT/ETL pipelines to support the FS analytics platform that drives revenue.

This role requires strong data engineering skills and the ability to work across global teams. Ideal candidates bring 5–10 years of Snowflake experience, Python data processing proficiency, and expertise with AI/ML features

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of professional experience with Snowflake and analytics platforms.
• Expertise in SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT and building scalable data pipelines.
• Experience with Snowflake AI/ML features such as Cortex Analyst/Agent, data sharing and materialized views.
• Knowledge of Python for data processing: Pandas, NumPy, SQL, or related tools.
• Knowledge of GenAI, LLMs, and modern AI/ML techniques to drive adoption.
• Experience using AI assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Snowflake CoCo in professional workflows.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced global environment.
• At least 8 years' relevant experience would generally be expected for this role.

Data Engineer - Director - Software Engineering Profile Description We're seeking someone to join our FORT (Finance Technology) team as a Data Engineer. This role is required to support the FS analytics platform, which is a direct source of revenue for the firm through client usage fees. As external vendors such as Light Keeper and MIK continue to offer competing analytics solutions, maintaining sufficient technology capacity and the right skill set is critical to supporting client demand, growing the business, and preserving our competitive position. Backfilling this role is necessary to sustain platform delivery and support continued business expansion. What you'll do in the role:

• Expertise in SQL, data modeling, ETL, ELT and building scalable data pipelines.
• Experience with Snowflake advanced features such as Snowflake AI/ML (Cortex Analyst/Agent), data sharing, and materialized views.
• Knowledge of Python for Data Processing: Pandas, NumPy, SQL, or relevant data manipulation tools.
