Role description
Act as the senior steward of the enterprise data architecture, defining and governing the target-state data ecosystem to enable scalable, secure, and business-aligned data platforms and products across the organisation.
Role accountabilities
- Collaborates with tech owners, leads, product owners, and the respective business stakeholders in architecting and implementing data management and data governance solutions.
- Proactively engages with key stakeholders to receive feedback, gauge satisfaction with team services, and address issues or concerns.
- Collaborates with the data engineering and data services team to advise the team on technical solutions to address business priorities and corporate strategy.
- Define and govern enterprise data architecture patterns covering data ingestion, storage, processing, analytics, and consumption.
- Provide hands‑on architectural oversight for complex, large-scale data platform initiatives, including design reviews and solution assurance.
- Establish and evolve standards for data modelling, metadata management, data quality, security, and interoperability.
- Ensure architectures are cloud-first, scalable, resilient, and compliant with regulatory and information security requirements.
- Guide the selection and evolution of data technologies and tooling in line with the enterprise roadmap.
- Be accountable for architectural integrity, coherence, and technical debt management across the data platform landscape.
- Ensure delivery teams adhere to agreed data architecture standards, principles, and reference architectures.
- Own resolution of complex architectural risks, issues, and dependencies impacting data platforms and products.
- Partner with data engineering, platform, and product teams to deliver scalable and reusable data capabilities.
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture and security teams to ensure alignment with broader technology strategy.
- Contribute to architecture communities of practice and continuous improvement of standards and ways of working.
- Support change management, communication, and adoption of data platform capabilities across the organisation.
- Support budget discipline and investment prioritisation in collaboration with the Director of Data Platforms & Data Engineering
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years experience designing and governing enterprise-scale data architectures within complex, multinational environments.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead architectural decisions across organisational boundaries.
- Deep experience with modern cloud data platforms, data engineering practices, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated capability in vendor evaluation, technology selection, and strategic roadmap development
