Job summary

General Mills in Mumbai is seeking a Digital & Technology Quality Engineer to ensure the quality of data solutions powering trusted business insights. You will perform data and BI testing, create test cases, validate data, and work with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to resolve defects.

Reporting to the Quality Engineering Manager, this role requires 3–5 years of experience, strong SQL skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset in a fast-paced environment.

OVERVIEW

As a Digital & Technology Quality Engineer , you will help ensure the quality and reliability of data solutions that power trusted business insights. You will perform data and business intelligence testing, create and execute test cases, validate data, and partner with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to resolve defects. Reporting to the Manager – Quality Engineering, this is a great opportunity to grow your data quality assurance skills in a collaborative, fast-paced Digital and Technology environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform data testing and business intelligence testing, applying knowledge of data warehouse (BigQuery on GCP) concepts to validate data solutions.
• Create, execute, and maintain test cases and test data, and document testing activities, results, and evidence.
• Write and execute SQL queries to validate, reconcile, and compare data across source systems and targets.
• Perform data validation and root-cause analysis to identify, investigate, and help resolve data quality issues.
• Manage defects and collaborate with developers and business analysts to enable efficient, high-quality testing.
• Support delivery and governance by ensuring required sign-offs on deliverables and adherence to established quality processes.
• Generate accurate metrics and productivity reports on time, providing clear insight into testing performance.
• Deliver high-quality work that meets or surpasses stakeholder expectations while communicating clearly and responsively.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education : Full-time graduation from an accredited university in computer science or related field.
• Experience : 3 to 5 years of experience in data testing or software quality assurance.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis abilities.
• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and multiple software engineering and testing methodologies.
• Proficiency in SQL, database testing, and business intelligence testing.
• Experience creating test cases and testing documentation from requirements or specifications, including projects with limited development documentation.
• Familiarity with issue-tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to complete tasks accurately.
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a continuous-improvement mindset and the ability to perform well in a fast-paced, changing environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science and related fields.
• Advanced capability in agile testing, test management, and database testing, including SQL.
• Working knowledge of extract-transform-load (ETL) processes, test design techniques, and test planning.
• Foundational knowledge of application programming interface testing.
• ISTQB certification.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and related services such as BigQuery or Cloud Functions.
• Knowledge of big data concepts, data warehouse structures, extract-transform-load processes, and data architecture principles.
• Basic knowledge of Python programing.
• Exposure to usage of GenAI tools in testing
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
• Experience working in an offshoring environment and demonstrated alignment with General Mills values.
