Job summary

NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital is seeking a Cyber Security Officer to join our Digital Services team in protecting complex health IT systems. You will monitor and enhance a range of security technologies, support incident response, audits and compliance, and help drive new security initiatives across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in cyber security within IT environments.
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks (ISO27001, NCSC, NIST, CIS, PCI-DSS).
• Experience with vulnerability management and penetration testing.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain and improve a range of security technologies (AV, firewall, filtering, endpoint protection).
• Support cyber incident response, security audits and compliance activities.
• Contribute to security policy development and ensure systems are secure and compliant.
• Collaborate with Digital Services and NHS Scotland networks to implement security initiatives.

Our Digital Services team plays a key role in maintaining and developing Cyber Security services, helping to protect the systems, data and infrastructure used by more than 2,000 staff across the Board.

About The Role

We are looking for a motivated and technically skilled Cyber Security Officer to join our Digital Services team. Reporting to the Cyber Operations Manager, you will help maintain and develop the cyber security infrastructure that protects our organisation's systems, data and services.

You will be involved in monitoring, maintaining and improving a range of security technologies, including anti-virus solutions, firewalls, internet filtering, vulnerability management, endpoint protection and secure remote access systems. The role will also support cyber incident response, security audits, compliance activities and the delivery of new security initiatives.

Working closely with colleagues across Digital Services and wider NHS Scotland networks, you will contribute to the development of security policies, provide technical guidance and help ensure our systems remain secure, resilient and compliant with recognised industry standards.

About You

You will have significant experience working within a Cyber Security or IT environment and be educated to degree level in a relevant Cyber Security Qualification.

You Should Be Able To Demonstrate

• Strong technical knowledge of modern cyber security technologies, tools and best practices.
• Knowledge of implementing and maintaining security frameworks and standards such as ISO27001, NCSC, NIST, CIS and PCI-DSS.
• Knowledge of vulnerability management, penetration testing and cyber security governance.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance immediate operational demands against longer-term strategic objectives.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
• A collaborative approach to working and the ability to build positive relationships across teams.
• A proactive commitment to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with emerging cyber threats and industry trends.
