Job description

We are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Architect/Engineer to deliver industrial cybersecurity solutions for critical process control networks across a range of industrial sectors. In this role, you will help protect essential operational technology (OT) environments through security assessments, network design, implementation, and technical troubleshooting. You will work with industrial networking technologies, endpoint protection, firewalls, and vulnerability assessment tools to strengthen system resilience and mitigate cyber risks. Partnering with project leads and customers, you will contribute to the successful delivery of secure, reliable, and compliant technical solutions. You will also apply industry standards such as ISA/IEC 62443, ISO 27001, and NIST to support robust cybersecurity practices. This full-time opportunity offers remote work arrangements, customer-facing project exposure, and regular travel to industrial sites.

Accountabilities
  • Industrial Cybersecurity Delivery: Provide cybersecurity consulting, engineering, implementation, and troubleshooting services for industrial process control networks across sectors including oil and gas, power generation, petrochemicals, life sciences, and manufacturing.

  • Project Coordination and Support: Serve as a backup project lead, supporting project execution to ensure deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and in line with customer expectations.

  • Network Security Design and Implementation: Design, configure, assess, and troubleshoot secure network infrastructures involving Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, access control lists (ACLs), intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.

  • Cybersecurity Assessments and Vulnerability Management: Conduct cybersecurity audits, vulnerability scans, and risk assessments using tools such as Nessus, Nmap, and other open-source or commercial security solutions.

  • Industrial Security Standards and Compliance: Apply relevant cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including ISA/IEC 62443, ISO 27001, ISO 27000, and NIST, while maintaining awareness of applicable industrial security guidance.

  • Systems and Endpoint Protection: Support the security and administration of Windows and Linux environments, Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, WSUS, terminal services, antivirus systems, and backup and recovery solutions.

  • Virtualization and Network Troubleshooting: Support virtualized environments, preferably VMware, and resolve complex network, application, and system integration issues.

  • Technical Documentation: Develop functional and detailed design specifications, document technical assessments, and provide accurate engineering recommendations.

  • Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Build trusted relationships with internal teams and external customers by responding to technical inquiries and delivering timely, effective solutions.

  • Professional Development and Safety: Maintain relevant cybersecurity and networking certifications, stay current with emerging security technologies, and complete required industrial safety training.

  • On-site Service Delivery: Travel to customer locations as required, with an expected travel commitment of approximately 30-40%.

Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electronics, or another computer-related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Professional Experience: 3-6 years of experience in networking, endpoint security, IT security, cybersecurity audits, or security assessments.

  • Networking Certification: At least one CCNA or CCNP certification in networking, design, or security is required.

  • Security Certifications: GICSP, CISSP, or a comparable cybersecurity certification is preferred. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) credentials are also relevant.

  • Cybersecurity Risk Assessment: Practical experience conducting cybersecurity vulnerability assessments, risk assessments, and security audits.

  • Vulnerability Scanning Tools: Familiarity with Nessus, Nmap, and other commercial or open-source tools for identifying and evaluating security vulnerabilities.

  • Network Security Technologies: Experience with firewalls, ACLs, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Cisco routers, switches, and secure network architecture.

  • Industrial Control Systems: Knowledge of process control system design and implementation, with an understanding of operational technology environments and industrial cybersecurity requirements.

  • Security Frameworks: Familiarity with ISA/IEC 62443, ISO 27001, NIST, and related industrial security standards. Awareness of Australian cybersecurity best practices and recommendations developed by the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) is also desirable.

  • Networking Protocols: Working knowledge of HSRP, STP, RSTP, MSTP, VLANs, 802.1Q, IPv4, IPv6, RIPv2, OSPF, EIGRP, DNS, NTP, EtherChannel, FTP, TFTP, and SSH.

  • Systems Administration: Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, WSUS, terminal services, Windows and Linux security fundamentals, antivirus solutions, and backup and recovery systems.

  • Virtualization: Experience supporting virtualized infrastructure, preferably VMware.

  • Technical Documentation: Ability to prepare functional and detailed design specifications and communicate technical findings clearly.

  • Troubleshooting and Analytical Skills: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities, particularly when resolving complex network, application, and system integration challenges.

  • Customer-facing Experience: Experience delivering network or cybersecurity services at customer sites, with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
