Job description

Role overview

Deepgram is hiring a full-time, remote Customer Success Engineer based in India to help build the company's APAC customer business from the ground up. The role is a hands‑on technical partner position for enterprise users of Deepgram's speech-to-text, text-to-speech and voice‑agent APIs: you own the full customer lifecycle from onboarding through expansion, run live demos and architecture discussions, conduct regular on‑site customer visits (frequent travel may be required), and feed customer insights back into the product roadmap.

Candidates need 7-10+ years of technical account management, sales engineering and/or enterprise customer success experience, fluency in API-level conversations with engineers and executives, and comfort with an AI‑first, fast‑evolving working style rather than a traditional 9‑to‑5. Benefits are localized to the hire's market and administered locally.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a technical expert and strategic advisor to enterprise customers of Deepgram's APIs, engaging directly with developers, engineers and executives to align business goals with technical solutions.
  • Own and manage the full lifecycle for assigned customers: onboarding, adoption, technical enablement, expansion and advocacy.
  • Confidently run live product demos, guide architecture discussions and troubleshoot technical issues, bridging solutions design and commercial growth.
  • Conduct regular on‑site customer visits to work hands‑on, drive adoption and actively embed Deepgram into customer workflows; frequent travel may be required.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Deepgram APIs, integrations and AI/ML technologies, operating in discovery mode to translate customer issues into actionable requirements for internal teams.
  • Proactively identify and scope expansion opportunities (cross‑sell, upsell, multi‑product adoption) in partnership with Sales, and execute structured customer success plans aligned to business outcomes.
  • Initiate and lead executive business reviews, joint planning sessions and strategy workshops to manage risks and surface growth opportunities.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer internally, influencing product roadmap, go‑to‑market strategy and internal customer‑support tools, while tracking and reporting KPIs such as adoption, usage, health, satisfaction, expansion and revenue impact.
Qualifications
  • 7-10+ years in Technical Account Management, Sales Engineering and/or Enterprise Customer Success with a strong technical focus, at innovative, API‑driven technology companies (developer‑first, developer tools or emerging AI/tech).
  • A proven track record in roles that blend customer engagement with technical expertise across solution design, technical problem‑solving and commercial growth.
  • Hands‑on experience running product demos, POCs or technical workshops with enterprise customers.
  • Demonstrated success identifying expansion, cross‑sell and upsell opportunities in complex enterprise accounts.
  • Strong technical aptitude: able to discuss APIs and developer workflows and hold fluent technical conversations with engineers and architects.
  • Experience engaging across both technical teams (developers, architects, support) and executive buyers (CIO, CTO, VP Engineering, etc.).
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, with proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders including executives, technical teams and sales.
  • A strong sense of ownership and stewardship for customers, plus a focus on developing a strong personal brand.
Application conditions
  • Full‑time, remote position with the listing location stated as India; remote does not imply worldwide eligibility.
  • The posting directs applicants to check the original listing for residency, work authorization, time zone, language and travel requirements.
  • Frequent travel may be required, including regular on‑site customer visits as part of the role.
  • Work takes place in a remote work‑from‑home environment where self‑directed, independent operation is described as key to staying proactive.
  • Deepgram's operating rhythm expects active use and experimentation with advanced AI tools as core to the job, with day‑to‑day work evolving rapidly and no highly prescriptive, traditional 9‑to‑5 structure.
  • Deepgram is an equal opportunity employer and will provide accommodations for applicants who need them.
  • Legitimate Deepgram recruiting communication comes only from an @deepgram.com email address; suspected impersonation messages should be forwarded to careers@deepgram.com.
Preferred qualifications
  • A background spanning solutions engineering or technical account management in addition to CSM responsibilities.
  • Experience working in AI, machine learning, voice AI, cloud infrastructure or developer‑first technologies.
  • Familiarity with automation tools, advanced analytics and/or basic scripting.
Compensation and benefits
  • Comprehensive health coverage.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Meaningful learning and development support.
  • Stipends to help you do your best work.
  • Benefits are localized to your market and administered locally, governed by country‑specific regulations.
What this role focuses on
  • This is a hands‑on technical partner role on Deepgram's Customer Success team (called 'The Heartbeat of Deepgram'), focused on its real‑time speech APIs for STT, TTS and production voice agents, not a relationship‑management‑only account post.
  • As one of the first people building Deepgram's business in Asia Pacific, the engineer shapes the regional playbook rather than inheriting one, working directly with lighthouse regional customers.
  • Daily work blends developer‑facing technical enablement (demos, architecture guidance, troubleshooting, integration best practices) with commercially oriented lifecycle ownership from onboarding through expansion.
  • The engineer operates as a two‑way conduit: embedding Deepgram in customer environments locally while relaying customer issues into actionable requirements, product roadmap, go‑to‑market strategy and internal tooling.
  • Success is measured through customer KPIs spanning adoption, usage, health, satisfaction, expansion and overall revenue impact, with fluent AI usage treated as a core operating expectation rather than an optional extra.
Application preparation (editorial suggestions)
  • Editorial suggestion: because the role requires you to 'Confidently run live product demos, guide architecture discussions, and troubleshoot technical issues', prepare a concise walkthrough of a past demo, POC or integration you led, ideally API‑driven, to evidence this in your application and interviews.
  • Editorial suggestion: the posting states 'Conduct regular on‑site visits with customers... Frequent travel may be required'; from an India base, confirm your realistic travel availability and verify your work‑authorization and location details against the original listing before applying.
  • Editorial suggestion: given Deepgram's stated expectation to 'Leverage AI to amplify your impact', assemble two or three concrete examples of how you have applied AI tools in customer‑success workflows to strengthen your case under the company's AI‑first operating rhythm.
  • Editorial suggestion: since 'Demonstrated success identifying expansions, cross‑sell, and upsell opportunities in complex enterprise accounts' is a mandatory criterion, quantify one or two expansion wins you drove and how they translated adoption into revenue impact.

Employer‑published remote role. Listed location(s): India. Remote does not imply worldwide eligibility. Check the original listing for residency, work authorization, time zone, language and travel requirements.

Company Overview

Deepgram is the leading platform underpinning the emerging trillion‑dollar Voice AI economy, providing real‑time APIs for speech‑to‑text (STT), text‑to‑speech (TTS), and building production‑grade voice agents at scale. More than 200,000 developers and 1,300+ organizations build voice offerings that are ‘Powered by Deepgram’, including Twilio, Cloudflare, Sierra, Decagon, Vapi, Daily, Cresta, Granola, and Jack in the Box. Deepgram’s voice‑native foundation models are accessed through cloud APIs or as self‑hosted and on‑premises software, with unmatched accuracy, low latency, and cost efficiency.

Backed by a recent Series C led by leading global investors and strategic partners, Deepgram has processed over 50,000 years of audio and transcribed more than 1 trillion words. There is no organization in the world that understands voice better than Deepgram.

Company Operating Rhythm

At Deepgram, we expect an AI‑first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.

Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.

Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day‑to‑day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9‑to‑5.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a rare chance to be one of the first people building Deepgram's business in Asia Pacific. You will help lay the foundation of how we serve customers across APAC. You will shape the playbook rather than inherit one, work directly with our lighthouse regional customers, and have visible impact on how an AI‑native company scales in one of the world's most dynamic markets. If the idea of building something from the ground up energizes you, this role is for you.

Our Customer Success team, known as The Heartbeat of Deepgram, sits at the intersection of customers, product, and growth. We're not here just to "manage accounts"; we make Deepgram successful in our customers' environments by combining technical expertise with commercial impact. Customer Success Engineers are hands‑on partners who ensure adoption, solve complex technical challenges, and highlight opportunities for expansion. At the same time, we bring back the insights that shape Deepgram's roadmap and the internal tools we build to support customers.

WHO YOU ARE

You are not a traditional CSM. You're a Customer Success Engineer, someone who thrives at the intersection of APIs, customer outcomes, and business growth. You have a strong technical foundation and are comfortable running demos, guiding architecture discussions, and helping customers integrate AI‑driven solutions into their workflows. You're equally skilled at reading a room, building trust with executives, and uncovering growth opportunities that come from technical adoption.

You've likely been a Technical Account Manager, Sales Engineer, Implementation Engineer, or Solutions Engineer, and you're excited to bring that blended experience to help customers realize value from day one and scale it over time.

As a Customer Success Engineer, you will nurture and grow relationships with strategic customers, leading initiatives that drive adoption, enablement, and measurable business outcomes. You will own the lifecycle for assigned customers from onboarding and enablement through engagement, performance analysis, and expansion.

You will be pivotal in aligning customer strategies with Deepgram's roadmap and strategy, ensuring both Deepgram and our customers achieve shared success.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Act as a technical expert and strategic advisor to enterprise customers, engaging directly with developers, engineers, and executives to align business goals with technical solutions.
  • Build, nurture, and sustain customer relationships across all personas interacting with Deepgram (from developers and program managers to CIOs, CTOs, and other C‑level stakeholders).
  • Conduct regular on‑site visits with customers to partner closely, work hands‑on to drive adoption, and actively embed Deepgram into their workflows. Frequent travel may be required.
  • Own and manage the full customer lifecycle: onboarding, adoption, technical enablement, expansion, and advocacy.
  • Focus on making Deepgram successful in the customer's environment; ensuring products are integrated, enabled, and adopted effectively, applying best practices, reference architectures, and creative solutions to drive outcomes.
  • Continuously operate in discovery mode, surfacing customer issues, deeply understanding their complexity and business impact, and translating them into actionable requirements for internal teams.
  • Confidently run live product demos, guide architecture discussions, and troubleshoot technical issues, bridging the gap between solutions design and commercial growth.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Deepgram APIs, integrations, and AI/ML technologies.
  • Leverage AI to amplify your impact; be an expert in how Customer Success can apply AI to drive customer outcomes, surface insights, and improve internal systems.
  • Proactively identify and scope opportunities for expansion (cross‑sell, upsell, multi‑product adoption), partnering with Sales.
  • Develop and execute structured customer success plans that align business outcomes with Deepgram's product capabilities.
  • Proactively initiate and lead executive business reviews, joint planning sessions, and strategy workshops to stay ahead of risks, ensure alignment, and surface opportunities for growth.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer internally, influencing product roadmap, GTM strategy, and even the internal tools and processes we build to support customers.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (adoption, usage, health, satisfaction, expansion and overall revenue impact).
YOU'LL LOVE THIS ROLE IF YOU
  • Thrive at the intersection of sales engineering, account management, and customer success.
  • Have high EQ and a high learning index, you read the room, adapt your style, and quickly absorb technical and business complexity.
  • Are a strong communicator who can keep many stakeholders aligned and focused, often through constant updates and over‑communication on status and ownership.
  • Are energized by technical problem‑solving, live demos, and translating support questions into growth conversations or business outcomes.
  • See customer health and technical adoption not as endpoints but as the fuel for revenue expansion.
  • Value collaboration and thrive in high‑growth, fast‑paced environments where priorities shift quickly.
  • Have a high degree of integrity and can work both collaboratively and independently in a remote WFH environment. Being self‑directed is key to staying proactive.
  • Enjoy leveraging data to guide decisions, uncover insights, and identify opportunities for program improvement.
  • Are persistent, resourceful, and able to adapt your communication style to suit both technical and business audiences.
  • Are thoughtful in your approach and constantly question the status quo. Just because we do things a certain way, doesn't mean it's the best way!
IT'S IMPORTANT TO US THAT YOU HAVE
  • 7-10+ years in Technical Account Management, Sales Engineering, and/or Enterprise Customer Success (with strong technical focus), at innovative, API‑driven technology companies (developer‑first, developer tools, or emerging AI/tech).

  • Hands‑on experience running product demos, POCs, or technical workshops with enterprise customers.
  • Demonstrated success identifying expansions, cross‑sell, and upsell opportunities in complex enterprise accounts.
  • Strong technical aptitude: able to discuss APIs and developer workflows, and hold fluent technical conversations with engineers and architects.
  • Experience engaging across technical teams (developers, architects, support) and executive buyers (CIO, CTO, VP Engineering, etc.).
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, with proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders (including executives, technical teams, and sales).
  • A strong sense of ownership and stewardship for your customers, and a keen focus on developing a strong personal brand.
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAD

  • Experience working in AI, machine learning, voice AI, cloud infrastructure, or developer‑first technologies.
  • Familiarity with automation tools, advanced analytics, and/or basic scripting that help you move faster and smarter.
