Job summary

Bechtel in New Delhi seeks a senior CSU leader to build and manage a high-performing Commissioning and Startup team supporting proposals and projects. You will provide leadership, guidance, training, and mentoring to CSU staff to ensure safe, timely startup and operability.

The role may require travel to global projects to provide CSU support, coordinating with engineering, construction and client teams to integrate startup requirements and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) with 12–15 years of relevant experience.
• Bechtel EPC CSU experience required.
• Experience delivering utility-scale solar and/or CCGT projects preferred.
• Ability to lead commissioning teams and integrate power facilities in data center environments.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead CSU Home Office activities for a project or proposal staffing and scheduling.
• Ensure optimal resource levels for on-time delivery.
• Participate in project reviews to cover CSU cost, time and risk aspects.
• Support development and maintenance of the CSU schedule.
• Oversee CSU risk registers for the project.
• Lead the preparation of operations manuals.
• Coordinate startup-related engineering, construction and client activities as assigned.
• Input to project teams to incorporate startup requirements into designs and safety.
• Support organizational and administrative CSU activities.
• Identify and propose innovative CSU solutions.
• Review contract drafts for CSU cost and scope adequacy.
• Provide training and mentoring to CSU personnel towards project objectives.
• Assist in integrating CSU with other project procedures (Engineering, Construction, Change Management, Forecasting, Cost, Trends, Claims).

Project Overview:

The Infrastructure GBU’s Renewables & Clean Power business line is pursuing future solar plant and CCGT projects and currently has a number of live projects. This role is for working in a central team on proposals and providing technical oversight of ongoing projects.

Job Summary:

In this position, you will develop and manage a high performing Commissioning and Startup (CSU) team that will support proposals and projects with home office CSU activities. You will provide leadership, oversight, guidance, training, and mentoring to the CSU team on key project procedures and CSU direction to ensure successful project execution and delivery. You may need to travel to global projects to provide CSU support and guidance on site.

Major Responsibilities:

• Lead CSU Home Office activities for a project, or for discipline/project/proposal estimating or staff planning activities that requires a high degree of technical skill and experience.
• Provide support to determine the right level of resources are maintained for optimum delivery.
• Participates in project reviews and workshops to ensure that all CSU activities are included from a procedural, cost, time and risk management perspective.
• Support for development and maintenance of the project CSU schedule.
• Oversees the development, maintenance and adoption of fit-for-purpose project CSU risk registers for the project.
• Leads the preparation of operations manuals.
• Coordinates with project management the startup related engineering, construction, and client activities as an office assignment or during startup, operations, maintenance or testing at the jobsite.
• Provides input to project management, engineering, and construction to ensure startup requirements are incorporated into project activities, including review of project designs and construction to ensure plant operability and operating personnel safety.
• Supports project/program organizational and administrative activities.
• Identifies and provides innovative solutions to CSU problems.
• Reviews contract drafts for adequacy of cost and scope definition and CSU requirements.
• Provides oversight, training, mentoring, and ensures capability of CSU personnel towards the attainment of project objectives.
• Provides support for integrating the CSU process with other key project procedures (e.g., Engineering, Construction, Change Management, Forecasting, Cost, Trends, and Claims).

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 12-15 years of relevant experience or 15-18 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Bechtel EPC CSU experience.
• Previous involvement in delivering utility scale solar projects and/or CCGT projects is preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with all aspects of commissioning and leading commissioning teams.
• Integration of power facilities in a data center environment is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, motivating and supporting others.
• Demonstrated understanding of CSU core processes and procedures.
• Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement, and construction functions and general business techniques.
• Awareness of commercial terms and conditions.
• Excellent skill in oral and written communication with demonstrated skill to present CSU information to management and client.
• Experience in leading a team of diverse backgrounds toward a single project outcome.
