Job summary

Citi is seeking an ICM UW Analyst in Mumbai to perform credit risk analysis and monitoring for trade finance programs, including Distribution Finance and CIAR. You will support annual and quarterly reviews, risk ratings, and new-to-bank transactions in collaboration with Trade Transactors, Product, and Risk teams.

Ideal candidates have 3–6 years of credit risk experience, strong ethics, and ability to operate within a complex banking environment.

Responsibilities

  • Adoption of leading practices in credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring, from origination to credit memo development
  • Ensure portfolio has no past dues or stale ratings
  • Draft CAM packages to be complete and accurate
  • Conduct initial financial analysis, due diligence, projection modeling, stress testing, risk ratings
  • Support relationships with Banking, Risk, Regulators, Internal Audit and control functions
  • Support strategic initiatives/projects within ICM Underwriting

Job description

Citi continues to enhance its business control and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), a first line of defense business line, to house and consistently manage credit risk activities performed for Citi’s institutional clients. ICM’s objective is to provide integrated end-to-end credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring for wholesale credit across the enterprise. Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function ("ICM UW" or "UW") provides credit analysis, underwriting, and first line of defense credit approval for periodic / material transaction reviews, and any necessary subsequent credit monitoring across all institutional business including Corporate Banking, Services, and Markets relationships.

Citi’s Services business provides global solutions that help corporations, financial institutions, public sector and commercial clients optimize operations and drive their business forward. Its Trade & Working Capital Solutions ("TTS") business line provides integrated cash management, trade finance products and services to multinational corporations. Within trade finance, Citi offers comprehensive domestic and international trade receivables financing solutions, which is one of the fastest-growing segments. These structured finance programs help businesses to increase liquidity in the supply chain and reduce the risk inherent in trade flows.

ICM UW Analysts are responsible for credit risk analysis and monitoring of a portfolio of trade finance programs. The trade portfolio primarily covers two trade Receivables Finance Products (Distribution Finance "DF" & Credit Insured Accounts Receivable "CIAR"). This role reports to Trade ICM Underwriter Manager and is responsible to support on Annual Reviews, Quarterly Reviews, new-to-bank transactions, Risk Ratings, etc. in partnership with Trade Transactors, Product and Risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adoption of leading practices in credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring, including the end-to-end underwriting process, from early origination discussions to development of credit approval memos
  • Ensure that assigned portfolio does not have past dues or stale ratings.
  • Drafting of Credit Approval Memo (CAM) packages including but not limited to ensuring they are complete and accurate
  • Conducting initial financial analysis, due diligence, projection modeling, stress testing, risk ratings and other in-depth analysis
  • Support relationships with key stakeholders in Banking and Risk and with key Regulators, Internal Audit, and control functions
  • Support ICM Underwriting organization on strategic initiatives /projects as required
Risk Management Experience
  • Experience in and exposure to global credit risk management standards
  • Ability to understand structured trade product
  • Ability to assess financial and industry data to conduct credit assessment
  • Able to discuss and address issues associated with the allocation of risk assets and risk capital in partnership with stakeholders and product organizations.
  • Preferred to have knowledge of receivables financing structures and understanding of concepts related to limited recourse receivables financing.
