Job summary

Kent is seeking an Engineer – Cost Control to be based in India, focusing on tracking costs, forecasts and budgets across major projects. You will reconcile project costs, prepare reports, and present cost trends to management, while collaborating with procurement, contracts, and project teams.

The role requires 2–8 years in cost control within Oil & Gas, refinery, or petrochemical sectors, with a degree in Engineering (Chemical/Mechanical) and strong English communication.

Qualifications

  • Track actual costs, commitments, forecasts, and variations against approved budgets.
  • Monitor project expenditures and identify cost overruns, trends, and deviations early.
  • Prepare monthly cost forecasts and ensure alignment with project execution plans.
  • Support finance teams in reconciling project costs.
  • Prepare accurate and timely cost reports, dashboards, and KPIs for management and stakeholders.
  • Present VOWD (Value of Work Done), cost trends, and variance analysis.
  • Validate contractor invoices and progress measurements before payment certification.
  • Work closely with procurement, contracts, and project management teams.
  • Identify cost-related risks and support mitigation planning.
  • Support audits, reviews, and internal compliance checks

Job Description

About the Job:

Kent is looking for an Engineer – Cost Control to be based in India.

Skills and Responsibilities

Assist with as-building deliverables In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Yourknowledge/skills,education,andexperience:

  • Degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical or Mechanical) from Indian University (UGC approved) or from Overseas University. Professional Certification is an added advantage.

Communication:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to articulate technical challenges and progress effectively.
  • Proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices.

Experience level: 2-8 years relevant experience in Cost Control in the Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical /Chemicals / Power sector, Energy transitions, Renewables, Carbon Capture, with large multidisciplinary EPC companies or /Engineering Consulting organizations. Exposure in Oil & Gas is an added advantage
