Job summary

Rippling is seeking a Corporate Accounting Manager to lead operating expense accounting, month-end accruals, fixed assets, intercompany, leases, payroll and benefits accounting. You will improve workflows, ensure US GAAP and international compliance, and partner with procurement, AP, FP&A and business units to maintain accurate income statement reporting.

You will drive process improvements, mentor a high-caliber team, and own critical payroll operations including audits and spend management

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in operational accounting roles with mix of public company experience and Big 4 audit preferable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CA/CPA preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls, with focus on accurate data management.
  • High attention to detail in data entry, reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to engage with management and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary contact for opex accounting, operations and close activities.
  • Lead month-end accruals and prepare detailed workpapers for opex close.
  • Coordinate with procurement to process contracts per policies.
  • Own opex-related initiatives, including long-term terms and forecast support.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, AP, FP&A and business partners to record accruals with strong controls.
  • Design scalable processes for compliant opex accounting under US GAAP and international standards.
  • Develop reports for management review to aid strategic decisions.
  • Support ad-hoc financial analyses for operational needs.
  • Contribute to SOX controls and process improvements in opex.
  • Oversee payroll operations including 401k compliance and audits.

About the role

As the Corporate Accounting Manager, you will lead operating expense accounting activities as well as take ownership of key areas including month end accrual review, Fixed assets, Prepaids, Intercompany, Leases, payroll and benefits accounting, in addition to ownership of key accounting estimates. You’ll play a critical role in building out new processes, improving existing workflows, and ensuring compliance and accuracy in accurate categorization of functional department income statement reporting in our month end and financial reporting process.

What you will do
  • Act as the primary point of contact for opex accounting, operations and close activities.
  • Lead the month-end accruals process as well as prepare and review detailed workpapers for opex month-end close activities, providing constructive feedback to improve quality and review analysis.
  • Work closely with procurement to ensure all contracts are processed, categorised, approved and recorded in accordance with our policies.
  • Serve as the Accounting owner for new opex-related initiatives, including long-term contract terms and conditions, impact of changes in new programs or vendors, and supporting finance on forecast and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Procurement, Accounts Payable, FP&A and other Business Partners to record complete and accurate accruals and to drive efficiencies across the accrual process with a strong control environment in mind.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement scalable processes that ensure proper opex accounting treatment in compliance with US GAAP and international standards.
  • Focuses on data accuracy, entry, monitoring, and development and support delivery of reports for management review and business partner collaboration to elevate data analysis for better strategic decision making
  • Support and perform ad-hoc financial analyses to support operational needs, ensuring accuracy and clarity in data reporting.
  • Play a key role in SOX initiatives in opex, including documenting internal controls, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience owning and managing critical payroll operations including payroll creation or approval, managing 401k compliance audits, and supporting external audit payroll requests. Proven ability to own US expense reimbursement approvals and address/notify Engineering of payroll/spend management application issues
  • Track record of leading and driving a high caliber team that challenges the status quo with high integrity and accountability.
What you will need
  • 8+ years in operational and related accounting roles with mix of public company industry experience and Big 4 audit experience preferable
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CA CPA preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls, with a focus on accurate data management and compliance.
  • High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in data entry, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate execution of responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present data findings, address questions, and engage with management and business partners
  • Experience with Rippling payroll, spend management applications preferred.
