Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Core Banking & Payments Platform Engineer with 5-12 years of experience supporting mission-critical banking, payments, and enterprise applications.

The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in production support, troubleshooting, automation, platform engineering, technical debt remediation, vulnerability management, and operational excellence. The role requires hands‑on experience working across application, database, middleware, cloud, and infrastructure layers while ensuring platform stability, resiliency, and continuous improvement.

Experience with Python automation, SQL, DevOps practices, observability platforms, OpenShift/AKS, and banking applications is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Production Support

• Provide L2/L3 support for critical banking, payments, and enterprise applications.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents, user issues, application failures, and performance bottlenecks.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and drive permanent fixes.
• Manage incidents, service requests, problem records, and change activities.
• Support application onboarding, configuration, deployments, and environment management.
• Collaborate with business users, operations teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and development teams.

Core Banking & Payments Support

• Support core banking, payments, treasury, lending, customer, and integration applications.
• Troubleshoot transaction failures, data issues, reconciliation exceptions, interface failures, and batch processing issues.
• Support payment processing platforms and integrations.
• Understand message flows, APIs, file transfers, and middleware components supporting banking operations.
• Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery exercises.

Technical Debt & Vulnerability Management

• Identify and remediate application vulnerabilities and technical debt.
• Coordinate dependency, library, framework, and platform upgrades.
• Support security patching activities.
• Participate in audit, compliance, risk remediation, and technology modernization initiatives.
• Ensure applications comply with enterprise security and regulatory standards.
• Develop automation solutions using Python, Shell scripting, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
• Automate monitoring, health checks, operational reports, application support tasks, deployment validations, and recurring operational activities.
• Build self-service and self-healing capabilities wherever possible.
• Improve operational efficiency through automation and engineering best practices.

Observability & Monitoring

• Configure and maintain application monitoring and observability platforms.
• Build dashboards, alerts, health checks, and operational metrics.
• Perform log analysis and troubleshooting using monitoring and observability tools.
• Proactively identify reliability and performance issues before they impact customers.

Database & Data Analysis

• Execute and analyze SQL queries across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar databases.
• Investigate data discrepancies and reconciliation issues.
• Support application troubleshooting through database analysis.
• Create operational reports and dashboards when required.

DevOps & Release Management

• Support CI/CD pipelines, release activities, deployments, rollback planning, and production validation.
• Participate in platform modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve release quality and operational readiness.

Contribute to Infrastructure as Code and automation initiatives where applicable

Required Skills:

• 5-12 years of experience in production support, application support, platform engineering, payments, or core banking environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Hands‑on Python scripting and automation experience.
• Good knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
• Experience supporting complex enterprise applications in production environments.
• Familiarity with incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, or equivalent tools.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Good To Have:

• Experience with OpenShift, AKS, Kubernetes, Docker.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Knowledge of observability platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, ELK, AppDynamics, Prometheus, or similar tools.
• Experience with IBM MQ, Kafka, messaging middleware, APIs, and integrations.
• Understanding of payment systems, SWIFT, ISO 20022, ACH, Wire, RTGS, or related banking platforms.
• Exposure to vulnerability management tools such as SonarQube, Black Duck, Snyk, Checkmarx, Veracode, etc.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
• Banking, financial services, or fintech experience.
