This position requires deep expertise in HVDC Control & Protection systems, proven leadership, and the ability to drive engineering strategy, process improvement, and consistent technical quality across multi‑disciplinary, international teams. A key focus is building organisational capability, strengthening engineering processes, and unifying engineering centres worldwide around common standards and best practices. Success depends on proactive communication, strong collaboration, and fostering a global “one‑team” culture.

Key responsibilities include leadership development, engineering governance, technical oversight, lessons‑learned implementation, and adherence to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) principles.

  3. Understand advanced modelling and simulation of HVDC Control & Protection systems, including:
  • Electromagnetic transient studies (PSCAD, EMTP‑RV)
  • Control and protection system modelling (MATLAB/Simulink)
  • Network conversion, modelling, tuning, and verification (PSSE, PSCAD, RSCAD)
  • Full plant/system modelling with end‑to‑end validation across multiple platforms
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor engineering talent to build a high‑performing, resilient organisation.
  • Identify and implement improvements in engineering tools, processes, systems, and technical solutions to enhance customer value and operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to specialists, supervisors, and staff while fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Demonstrate technical excellence, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety in all activities.

  • Make informed decisions regarding work processes, operational plans, schedules, and priorities to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Manage engineering resources, workloads, schedules, and project milestones.
  • Define project work breakdown structures (WBS), required resources, and skill sets to ensure timely delivery.

    • Exceptional sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage team organisational risks.
    • Proven skills in managing and leading teams with a strong technical background.
    • Experience with multi‑discipline system integration projects.
    • Experience leading large teams – Technical & Operational.
    • Proactively serves on cross‑functional leadership teams; makes decisions independently; pulls in experts when needed.
