Job summary

Cisco Pune is seeking a Consulting Engineer with 5+ years of experience in technical consulting, design, deployment, and troubleshooting. You will engage with customers to deliver value, provide Day-2 support, and drive adoption of Cisco solutions across the lifecycle.

You will demonstrate deep networking expertise, work across L2/L3 protocols, MPLS, EVPN, and overlay technologies, and lead cross-functional engagements. Training and mentoring other engineers are part of the role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in technical consulting, design, deployment, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with routing and switching protocols and Cisco platforms.

Our Consulting Engineers are an integral part of the Customer Experience (CX) team delivering Lifecycle Services to our customers! We help them to reduce risk, drive innovation, and enhance their network to meet business objectives. We work closely with Cisco Engineering to advocate for innovation for our customer and as a liaison, share what is coming with our customers to help them be the groundbreakers of technology.

As a Consulting Engineer, you will help drive the effort to transform our current and future architecture for our customers. Responsibilities

• Engages with customers to create value and deliver outcomes, adoption, and renewals. Proactively collaborates cross-functionally teams to ensure a unified customer experience across the lifecycle
• Provide Day-2 support on Cisco products and solutions for customers, leveraging technical expertise, AI and automation, strategic guidance, and innovative solutions to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction
• Demonstrates expertise across technologies, developing specialized insight in a sector or domain (e.g., Healthcare, BFSI) to benefit a broad customer base, and implementing Resilience and Security by design into all deliverables
• Serves as a focal point for proactive problem resolution, providing timely support across Cisco technologies
• Leads strategy, and optimization of Cisco services and solutions, ensuring alignment with customer goals
• Develops and delivers technical content and guidance that supports customer engagements, drives solution adoption, and takes end-to-end responsibility for the success of customer solutions and leads collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders
• Creates customer-facing documentation, ensuring deliverables are technically sound, clearly articulated, and aligned with CX standards
• Leverages AI and automation to enhance delivery efficiency, innovation and customer outcomes, while also increasing personal productivity and focus on high-impact work
• Contributes to knowledge sharing and the development of digital intellectual capital, including documentation templates, automation artifacts and other assets that improve Cisco delivery methodology and processes
• Builds leadership presence through regular customer engagements and by participating in industry events such as Cisco Live and IETF forums

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field, such as Computer Science, Information Technology or a similar field.
• 5+ years of experience in technical consulting, design, deployment, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience and good knowledge in routing and switching protocols like: IGP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS, STP, RSTP, VTP, VSS, vPC, VDC, MSTP, LACP, VLAN,VXLAN-EVPN etc
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentalsand experience in Cisco Routing and switching Platforms like Cisco ISR 1800/1900/2900/3900/4000 Series routers, ASR 1000 , Cat 9k,6500, 6800, 4500, Nexus 9k,7k.
• Knowledge and hands‑on experience of L2 / L3 networking protocols and R&S technologies (IPv4/IPv6, STP/RSTP, EVPN, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, QoS, Multicast).
• Knowledge of Architecture’s like CEN and MPLS.
• Knowledge and hands‑on experience on XR based platforms ASR9k and NCS55xx etc.
• Has knowledge of overlay technologies like MPLS, L2VPN and L3VPN.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, ability to communicate technology strategy and architecture approach to engineers, executives, and Cisco customers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to influence, motivate and work in a highly cross‑functional matrix environment to drive outcomes based plans, programs and execution.
• Prior experience of conducting customer workshops, High level and low level network design experience would be preferred.
• Experience in ND/NDFC/UCS products is preferred
• AL/ML and Network automation skills preferred (Python/ Ansible/ GoLang/ Splunk)
• CCIE is preferred
