Job summary

ERM in Delhi, India is seeking an Environmental Consultant to support our projects by delivering multiple tasks and building strong relationships within the team and with clients. The role involves delivering EHS/ESG due diligence for acquisitions, mergers, and project finance, including Equator Principles reviews.

You will conduct Phase I ESAs, assess environmental and reputational risks, and provide technical advisory support for permitting. Travel across India and abroad is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental sciences or engineering.
• 2–4 years of environmental consulting experience, preferably in due diligence and regulatory reviews.
• Strong English communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform ESG and EHS due diligence for acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, and project finance.
• Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ASTM 1527) and EHS due diligence.
• Carry out desktop and field assessments of environmental and reputational risks.
• Conduct on-site inspections and observations.
• Review documents and conduct discussions; prepare reports.
• Perform EHS compliance audits and regulatory reviews.
• Provide technical and advisory support for EHS permitting.
• Assess soil and groundwater risks and liabilities.
• Prepare proposals and estimate project budgets.
• Manage projects with health and safety leadership and quality control.
• Communicate effectively in English and be willing to travel.

• Perform ESG and EHS due diligence for acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, joint ventures, capital raising, and project finance, including Equator Principles reviews and property transactions.
• Execute Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ASTM 1527) and EHS Due Diligence.
• Carry out desktop and field assessments of environmental and reputational risks, including:
• On-site inspections and observations
• Document reviews and discussions
• Report preparation
• Perform EHS compliance audits, management system assessments, and regulatory reviews.
• Provide technical and advisory support for EHS permitting.
• Assess soil and groundwater risks and liabilities.
• Prepare proposals and estimate budgets.
• Manage projects, ensure health and safety leadership, and maintain quality standards.
• Communicate effectively in English and be open to extended travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.
• 2-4 years of experience in environmental consulting, preferably in due diligence, liability assessment, regulatory reviews, and compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain flexibility in work hours.
• Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
• Excellent presentation skills and understanding of deal dynamics.
• Knowledge or interest in corporate sustainability, sustainable finance, and ESG data analytics.
• Willingness to travel across India and abroad on tight timelines.
• Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and eagerness to learn.
