Job summary

Qualifications

• Diagnose and manage patients with respiratory and pulmonary disorders.
• Conduct OPD consultations and evaluate patients with respiratory complaints.
• Provide regular IPD patient care, including clinical assessment, treatment planning, and follow-up.
• Diagnoses and treats asthma, COPD, pneumonia, tuberculosis, bronchitis and other lung diseases.
• Evaluates chronic cough, breathlessness, wheezing, chest tightness, and low oxygen levels.
• Manages sleep-related breathing disorders including sleep apnea.

Responsibilities

• Perform or interpret tests such as spirometry/ PFTs, bronchoscopy, and sleep studies.
• Provide care for patients requiring long-term oxygen therapy or ventilatory support.
• Collaborate with intensivists and other specialists in ICU and critical-care settings as needed.

Main roles of a pulmonologist

• Diagnose and manage patients with respiratory and pulmonary disorders.
• Conduct OPD consultations and evaluate patients with respiratory complaints.
• Provide regular IPD patient care, including clinical assessment, treatment planning, and follow-up. Diagnoses and treats asthma, COPD, pneumonia, tuberculosis, bronchitis, and other lung diseases.
• Evaluates chronic cough, breathlessness, wheezing, chest tightness, and low oxygen levels.
• Manages sleep-related breathing disorders, including sleep apnea.
• Treats interstitial lung diseases and pulmonary fibrosis.
• Evaluates lung nodules and other abnormalities seen on chest X-rays or CT scans.
• Manages pulmonary hypertension and other disorders of the pulmonary circulation.
• Performs or interprets tests such as spirometry/PFTs, bronchoscopy, and sleep studies.
• Provides care for patients requiring long-term oxygen therapy or ventilatory support.
• Works with intensivists and other specialists in ICU and critical-care settings, depending on their training.
