Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Ltd in Chennai, India seeks a senior Construction Specialist to lead method development and lifting planning for complex projects. You will mitigate technical risks, sequence heavy lifts, and ensure safe, compliant execution across site operations.

Responsibilities include developing detailed work procedures, coordinating cranes, and maintaining comprehensive lifting documentation, while optimizing equipment usage and sustainable temporary works.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering and a Master in Structural Engineering.
• 15 years of experience with overseas experience.
• Experience in construction methodology, engineering and project management within the construction industry including heavy lifting, bridge installation, modular construction, precast handling, industrial equipment handling, heavy transport and modular heavy lift service.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed method statements and work procedures for complex construction activities.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with construction methods.
• Develop and implement lifting plans for crane operations, ensuring alignment with project requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices.
• Coordinate the selection and mobilization of appropriate cranes and lifting equipment for each lift.
• Conduct site assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure the lifting area is safe for operations.
• Ensure the load charts and lifting capacities of cranes are fully understood and adhered to during the planning and execution stages.
• Ensure that all lifting documentation is completed accurately, including lifting permits, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Maintain records of lifting operations, including lift plans, equipment inspections, safety audits, and incident reports.
• Evaluate and select specialized equipment such as Strand jacks, SPMTs, Mega cranes and machinery.
• Optimise crane utilization, counterweight configurations, and load distribution for heavy lifting and complex installations.
• Optimise and reuse available temporary works for sustainable construction methods that minimize environmental impact

Special Projects - Construction Sensitivity: LNT Construction Internal Use Methodology Development & Planning
