About the Role
ORCHIDS The International School is looking for a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-focused Higher Secondary Computer Science Teacher to teach students from Grades 9 to 12. The ideal candidate will have strong subject expertise, excellent teaching and classroom management skills, and the ability to prepare students for board examinations while developing their programming, computational thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
The teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging theoretical and practical computer science lessons, mentoring students, conducting assessments, and supporting academic and co-curricular technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver structured, engaging, and age-appropriate Computer Science lessons for Grades 9–12.
- Develop students' understanding of programming, computational thinking, algorithms, data structures, databases, computer networks, and other relevant concepts.
- Teach programming languages and technologies aligned with the school's curriculum and board requirements, such as Python, Java, SQL, HTML/CSS, or other relevant technologies.
- Prepare students effectively for Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations, where applicable.
- Develop lesson plans, worksheets, presentations, assignments, practical exercises, projects, and other instructional resources.
- Conduct regular formative and summative assessments and maintain accurate records of student performance.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students improve their conceptual understanding and academic performance.
- Conduct practical sessions and guide students in programming assignments, projects, and laboratory activities.
- Identify learning gaps and provide additional academic support or enrichment opportunities as required.
- Encourage students to develop logical reasoning, computational thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
- Mentor students in technology-related projects, competitions, hackathons, coding activities, and other co-curricular initiatives.
- Integrate relevant educational technology, digital tools, and innovative teaching methodologies into classroom instruction.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive computer laboratory environment.
- Ensure responsible and appropriate use of technology and digital resources by students.
- Collaborate with other subject teachers to support interdisciplinary projects and learning initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding students' academic progress and areas for improvement.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings, staff meetings, professional development programs, school events, and other assigned responsibilities.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of the Computer Science program.
- Follow all school policies, academic standards, child-safety guidelines, and institutional procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or a related field.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification is preferred/required as applicable to the curriculum and board.
- Strong understanding of Computer Science concepts and programming fundamentals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for students of different learning levels.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
Technical Skills
Candidates should have strong proficiency in relevant areas such as:
- Python / Java / C++ or other curriculum-relevant programming languages
- Data Structures and Algorithms
- Database Management and SQL
- Computer Networks and Cyber Safety
- Object-Oriented Programming
- Web Technologies such as HTML/CSS

Preferred Experience
- 2–5 years of teaching experience in a reputed school, preferably teaching Grades 9–12.
- Experience with CBSE/ICSE/IB/IGCSE or other recognized school curricula will be an advantage.
- Experience preparing students for board examinations.
- Experience handling Computer Science practical examinations and project work.
- Experience mentoring students for coding competitions, Olympiads, robotics, AI, hackathons, or technology projects will be an added advantage.
