CAD Manager (Computer Aided Design Manager)
The CAD Manager will lead the CAD Design team, driving technical excellence, process standardization, team development, and manufacturable high-quality designs while improving productivity, reducing lead time, and supporting innovation. Candidates should have strong experience in CAD Design, Engineering, and Product Development with proven leadership; Jewelry Manufacturing experience is preferred, but other engineering and manufacturing backgrounds are also welcome.
Experience: 8–15 Years (3–5 years of experience leading CAD teams)
Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, Tool Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent. Diploma candidates with exceptional CAD management experience may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor the CAD design team.
- Develop team capability through training and coaching.
- Conduct performance reviews and competency assessments.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement.
CAD & Product Development
- Review and approve CAD designs before release.
- Ensure designs meet customer specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Develop and maintain CAD design standards.
- Standardize construction methods across product categories.
- Minimize customer revisions through robust design reviews.
Manufacturing Support
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Merchandising, Tool Room, Wax, Casting, Stone Setting, and Sampling teams.
- Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability.
- Improve product strength while maintaining target metal weight.
- Reduce production issues arising from CAD design.
Process Improvement
- Develop SOPs, checklists, and design guidelines.
- Standardize prongs, seats, galleries, wall thicknesses, supports, and assembly features.
- Create standard CAD libraries for commonly used components.
- Reduce design cycle time and rework.
Quality & Customer Focus
- Understand customer construction standards.
- Drive First-Time-Right CAD approvals.
- Support root cause analysis for customer complaints.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Introduce new design methodologies.
- Recommend automation and CAD productivity improvements.
- Benchmark industry best practices.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in CAD Design and Product Development.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience leading a CAD team.
- Experience in Engineering, Automotive, Aerospace, Precision Manufacturing, Medical Devices, Consumer Products, Tool Design, or Jewelry Manufacturing.
- Jewelry industry experience is preferred but not mandatory.
