Job Summary

The Compliance Analyst Senior role is an individual contributor that focuses on the development and execution of internal compliance and control reviews. This position will expand to encompass self‑assurance activity validation across various business processes for Bread Financial and its Affiliates. The Compliance Testing Analyst conducts testing engagements in accordance with the Enterprise Testing Procedures and other applicable corporate policies or procedures.

Essential Job Functions
  • Quarterly Compliance Projects / Ad-hoc Reviews: Conducts and leads on assigned Quarterly Compliance Projects and/or Ad-hoc reviews by assessing the applicable laws and risks and utilizing knowledge of the business area or process and regulatory requirements to develop appropriate scope for review, test attributes, sampling methodology, etc.
  • Independently leads and ensures successful completion of the project from planning, fieldwork, and reporting in a timely manner within acceptable quality standards.
  • Tests the adequacy of compliance controls in place within the business and identifies potential and actual control deficiencies by conducting an independent RCSA review by executing design and operating effectiveness testing of the control as per the Control Testing Methodology.
  • Creates and executes on scope by conducting qualitative (business process review, reporting review, training review, monitoring review) and quantitative reviews (transactional tests, data analytics) during fieldwork.
  • Creates work papers that clearly articulate the work performed and results obtained and communicates the conclusion of the test to the internal stakeholders (Business partners, First Line & Compliance Advisors) and explains the risk associated with the results based on substantive evidence.
  • Performs peer reviews on analyst work, where applicable, on assignments completed by team members to achieve testing objectives and meet deadlines. Performs quality reviews on active and completed tests and provides constructive feedback to the team and highlights improvement areas.
  • Leads and creates knowledge sessions, inclusive of process enhancements / best practices discussions with/for the department.
  • Conducts monthly issue validations on higher‑risk issues assigned each month.
Automated Testing / Data Analytics

Builds on automated testing and data analytic tests identified during quarterly projects, ad‑hoc reviews, and stretch assignments by utilizing data analytics skills, tools, and applications in order to provide management with more qualitative results and awareness of total impact.

Assists team members and management in building automated testing inventory and data analytics opportunities as new risks develop and business strategies emerge / shift.

Documentation

Prepares monthly reports on automated testing to inform key stakeholders of the outcome of monitoring and review work, including ratings, assigning owners actions and overall status.

Prepares workpapers, draft project reports, and other project deliverables as part of the Quarterly Compliance Project and/or Ad‑hoc reviews assigned per the annual test plan and in line with department procedures. Timely updating of Issue validation tracker for monitoring and reporting.

Accurate and timely upload of testing documents related to quarterly projects/ ad‑hoc reviews on internal database testing application.

Process Delivery

Assists in the planning / development of the annual compliance test plan by reviewing business areas, related laws, and regulations to be tested and develop test scope to appropriately assess the adherence to related regulatory requirements.

Assists in other Compliance efforts as needed, such as ad‑hoc projects, regulatory exams, internal audits, department updates, etc.

Demonstrates outstanding verbal and written communication skills when working with internal and external partners.
