Responsibilities

  • Understand red-flag indicators per regulators and best practices, including non-automated scenarios like trade-based money laundering.
  • Ensure and manage the quality of investigations while meeting SLA requirements.
  • Assess investigations and AML trends, collaborating with regional/global stakeholders to elevate and transfer information.
  • Participate in AML initiatives, process improvements, or enhancements, including technology use and STR determinations.
  • Coordinate changes to AML policies with MLROs based on regulations and BFCC functions.
  • Support the India GFCC team during regulatory exams, primarily in responses related to the transaction-monitoring programme.
  • Support AML/KYC responsibilities for all regulated JPM India entities.

The APAC Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) AML Investigations team is responsible for identification, investigations, and recommendation of suspicious transactions. The team manages Mantas and/or manual escalations of cases consistent with Global AML Standards, provides an initial assessment of potential money‑laundering and terrorist‑financing activity, and recommends cases for escalation, further review, or closure as false positives. The India GFCC team implements the firm’s AML programme and local regulatory requirements for the Corporate and Investment Banking businesses.

Job Summary

As a Compliance Officer – Investigations – Associate in the GFCC AML Investigations team, you will support the India MLRO in transaction‑monitoring activities, reviewing alerts and cases generated from automated software and other offline sources related to JPMCB India businesses. You should demonstrate investigative abilities, prioritization skills, and a willingness to tackle challenging issues. Your role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of banking systems, and familiarity with common AML typologies. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders, adapt to an evolving environment, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information. The role involves close work with the India GFCC team, regional AML investigation team, and front‑line staff to ensure alerts are reviewed and disposed of per firm policies, local laws, and regulations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Have subject‑matter expertise in AML and/or terrorist‑financing investigations, including comprehensive understanding of AML processes, technology, case management, and products/services.
  • Have deep understanding of red‑flag indicators related to AML/CFT as mandated by local regulators and international best practices, especially non‑automated scenarios such as trade‑based money laundering.
  • Ensure and manage the quality of investigations while meeting SLA requirements on time.
  • Assess investigations and AML trends, collaborating with regional or global stakeholders to effectively elevate, communicate, transfer information, or implement change management.
  • Participate in AML investigation or line‑of‑business initiatives, process improvements, or enhancements, including technology use and supporting the India MLRO in determining STRs.
  • Gather, coordinate, and participate in changes to the firm’s AML policies, processes, or trends with MLROs based on local regulations, relevant GFCC functions, compliance, or line‑of‑business requirements.
  • Support the India GFCC team during regulatory exams, primarily responding to queries related to the transaction‑monitoring programme.
  • Support the India MLRO in discharging AML/KYC responsibilities for all regulated JPM India entities.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistical Mathematics, Data Science, or equivalent/related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of experience in the Financial Services Industry with a demonstrated track record in Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Foreign Correspondent Bank AML investigations, and a proficient understanding of India AML/CFT regulations and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Experience in handling regulatory investigations is an advantage.
