Job description

The LSC team at Navi serves as a strategic partner to the business, ensuring the company's operations align with legal and regulatory frameworks. The team provides comprehensive legal counsel across various domains, including corporate law, regulatory compliance, and risk management. The team oversees corporate governance, ensuring adherence to statutory obligations and facilitating effective board and shareholder engagements. The team proactively manages compliance across multiple regulated sectors, adapting to evolving regulatory landscapes.

About the Role

As Compliance Monitoring, you will build and lead Navi’s compliance monitoring capability across its businesses and regulated entities. A central part of the mandate is building the Compliance Monitoring System (CMS): a ground-up exercise in creating automated monitoring frameworks that identify and alert on compliance risk at source, within the systems, customer journeys and operational processes where it arises.

You will translate regulatory obligations into measurable checks, work with Product, Technology, Data Analytics and Business teams to put them into production, and build the mechanisms to investigate, escape and resolve exceptions. You will also strengthen control testing where automation does not yet provide adequate coverage. The role calls for someone who enjoys building from scratch, combines regulatory judgement with an automation mindset, and takes ownership from problem definition through implementation and sustained effectiveness.

What We Expect From You
  • Build CMS from the ground up. Define a risk-based roadmap across entities and products, prioritising material customer and regulatory risks. Build reusable monitoring frameworks that can scale as Navi’s businesses grow.
  • Turn obligations into executable checks. Map regulatory requirements to processes, controls and source data. Define monitoring logic, thresholds, frequency, data requirements and escalation triggers in sufficient detail for implementation.
  • Own delivery with technical teams. Partner closely with Product, Technology and Data Analytics to scope solutions, resolve dependencies, validate data and test checks before launch. Stay hands-on through deployment and ongoing operation.
  • Make alerts useful and timely. Detect emerging risks and breaches as close to their source as practicable. Validate coverage and accuracy, investigate missed exceptions, and tune checks to reduce false positives without weakening risk detection.
  • Close the loop on exceptions. Establish clear ownership, severity-based escalation and remediation timelines. Drive root-cause analysis, verify corrective action and monitor recurrence, with an auditable record of findings and closure.
  • Own Testing strategy: Use targeted reviews, sampling and control testing to cover risks that cannot yet be automated and to validate whether automated monitoring works as intended.
  • Build a strong team and working relationships. Coach monitoring professionals, raise analytical and automation capability, and influence business owners to address risks.
  • Bring a builder’s mindset. Be passionate about building things from scratch, comfortable working with data and system logic, and able to challenge manual processes and turn ideas into working solutions. Practical experience with analytics, SQL, workflow automation or AI-enabled tools is valuable.
  • Demonstrate ownership and sound judgement. Combine analytical rigour, attention to detail and clear communication with the ability to prioritise, influence stakeholders and deliver with minimal supervision. Uphold integrity and act decisively on material compliance risks.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor's/Master’s degree in business administration, finance, law or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in generalist roles such as consulting, startups, strategy/operations, etc., with a track record of owning ambiguous problems end-to-end and delivering practical solutions.
  • Prior exposure to compliance monitoring, audit, or regulatory compliance in financial services industry is useful but not required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage teams, prioritize tasks, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex regulations and policies.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive mindset, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to integrity, ethics, and professionalism, with a passion for promoting a culture of compliance excellence.
