Job summary

Nomura seeks a seasoned Compliance Testing professional for Powai FCC Testing in Mumbai. You will work with regional teams to execute risk-based testing and assurance across AML, sanctions and financial crime controls.

The role reports to the Head of Powai Core Compliance & Compliance Testing and requires 7–12 years in financial services with at least 5 years in FCC roles; CAMS is desirable. A strong investigative mindset and ability to present findings to senior management are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accountancy, Law, Risk Management or related field.
  • 7–12 years in financial services with at least 5 years in FCC roles.
  • CAMS certification desirable; strong AML, sanctions and ABC knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Support CTAP development using a risk-based approach aligned to CRA.
  • Conduct periodic testing to evaluate design and operational effectiveness of controls.
  • Prepare detailed reports on testing results with issue ratings.
  • Maintain documentation of CTAP, work papers, approvals and reports.
  • Document issues with risks, factors and remediation actions.
  • Present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Track open issues and follow up for closure, reporting progress.
  • Provide support in ad-hoc projects and initiatives.

Division Overview

Powai L&C in NSIPL broadly covers the areas of Legal and Compliance is responsible for building a robust risk and control framework in Nomura. Powai Legalcomprises of the Corporate Legal and Transaction Legal functions, which provide advice and support on corporate, employment and transactional matters. The Offshore Legal team supports global teams on corporate and secretarial matters, Global Markets, and Masters documentation related requirements. Powai Compliancecomprises of functions such as Central Compliance, Control Room & Disclosure, Trade and Communication Surveillance, Core Compliance & Compliance Testing, and Financial Crime Compliance. The teams provide advisory and operations support to global Compliance teams driven by global / regional policies and regulatory expectations.

Business Overview

Powai FCC Testing is part of the Core Compliance & Compliance Testing team. Powai FCC Testing works closely with the regional FCC team in Asia-ex Japan (AEJ) to execute risk-based testing/assurance work linked to FCC-related risks and controls, based on Nomura Global Minimum Standards on Compliance Testing.

Role & Responsibilities

The position reports directly to the Head of Powai Core Compliance & Compliance Testing, based in Powai, with a matrix reporting line to the Head of Governance & Planning, AEJ FCC based in Singapore.

Key responsibilities include:

Compliance Testing & Assurance
  • Support the development and update to the annual Compliance Testing/Assurance Plan (CTAP) using a risk-based approach aligned to the Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA)
  • Conduct periodic compliance testing & assurance to evaluate design and operational effectiveness of controls owned and/or operated by Business, FCC and other Corporate Functions, and verify adherence to procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare detailed reports on testing results, findings, and recommendations with appropriate issue ratings based on risk impact and severity
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of compliance testing & assurance activities including the CTAP, work papers, approvals, testing reports, and management information
  • Document issues with clear explanation of risks, causal factors, and remediation actions required
  • Present findings to relevant stakeholders including senior management
  • Track open issues and follow up for closure, including management information showing progress updates and completion of CTAP activities
  • Provide support in various ad-hoc projects and initiatives
Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Accountancy, Law, Risk Management or related field
  • 7 -12 years of experience in financial services with at least 5 years in FCC-related roles
  • CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification desirable
  • Strong understanding of AML, Sanctions and ABC legislations and principles
  • Good understanding of Global Markets, Investment Banking, Wealth Management business models and associated financial crime risks and red flag typologies
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting design and operational effectiveness testing of controls
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills to assess complex processes and identify control gaps
  • Ability to present complex compliance testing findings clearly and concisely to relevant stakeholders including senior management
  • Self-motivated with strong ownership, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
