Job Purpose
Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine.

Maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, load, examine and modify CNC programs.
- Set up tools and load materials onto CNC machine.
- Plan machining by studying drawings, specifications, machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
- Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points.
- Set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches. Calculate requirements and prove part programs.
- Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chuck, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers. Indicate vices: tramming heads.
- Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into positions.
- Verify settings by measuring positions, first‑run part, and sample work pieces adhering to standards.
- Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations.
- Take measurements, detect malfunctions, troubleshoot processes, adjust and reprogram controls, sharpen and replace worn tools, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety & environmental standards as per ISO 9001, 45001.
Qualification and Experience
- ITI/NCTVT fitter course from a recognized institute with around 3–5 years experience in any heavy engineering industry.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM is desirable.
- Knowledge of SIEMENS / FANUC.
- Knowledge of CNC programming.
- Knowledge in using a wide variety of measuring instruments.
